Thanks for the reply. I didn't think about the process for connected the cable to the laptop. I guess it would be much easier to just buy a new GPS antenna and mount it somewhere on the vehicle.
I'm trying to figure out how to do this. I have a GPS antenna on my FJ but my vehicle didn't come with an actual GPS unit. If I download maps onto my MacBook using a offline mapping application is it possible to use my vehicles GPS antenna to track my current location?
This is awesome! A few weeks ago I purchased an Ipad Mini to use for navigational purposes. At first I couldn't find a whole lot of information in regards to offline mapping but this app just may work.
Thanks for sharing.
Having owned a Rubicon I would suggest going with the truck because of the space. Plus I had a couple different issues with my Jeep and when I asked people for help the always said "its a jeep thing". So need less to say I traded for a FJ.
Not to go off topic but I would look into something...
Here is a thread on sleeping inside the fj.

Would you guys recommend this device? I currently take online college classes part time and I'm planning a coast to coast trip this September. Right now I've been using a app on my iphone for navigating but I'm ready for an upgrade. Since the surface comes with Microsoft Office and it looks to...
I'm kinda in your same boat right now. For the past few weeks I've been looking at different types of bikes and so far the F800GS is at the top of my list. Although its a lot of money on my end I think it would be easy to sale if it came down to it. So that's a good thing for me if I get it and...
I spotted a earthromer (Grey F-250) driving down route 1 here in Laurel MD. It was the first one I ever saw. I was stopped at a traffic light when I saw it and I didn't have time to snap a pic. Sure wish I could have stopped this guy.
Anyone know somebody with something like this in MD?
Good choice with the upgrade. I owned a 4th Gen 4Runner a while back and although it was only a 2wd it was still a great vehicle. Good luck with the build...looking forward at seeing your plans.
