    60s Avion aluminum camper

One of the coolest campers ever built . My personal favorite. Restored they bring good coin.... Sure would look great on the camper special. Congrats on the great find.

Can't find what I want so the build begins.

The weather was so nice Saturday that I decided to go ahead and slide the coach onto the flat bed. The rig looks kind of naked at this point. Should improve once the skirts and storage lockers are installed. The camper will be slid to the rear of the bed then bolted down . Rig drives really...

Can't find what I want so the build begins.

Well got the truck all buttoned up and ready for the coach today. She made her trip to DMV and is now legal. The coach will be installed on Monday. I added a bit of bling that every hunter needs. It actually works pretty well. I was surprised. I still have a bunch of work to do but at...

    Building an elk hunting rig

I have to agree with you about Wikapedia. There never wrong or confusing... That's why I mentioned first where the info came from. I'd also agree that If I were building a rig for -25 F , I'd probably have used a composite skin over a 2" steel frame. And may have thrown a bit of added...

Can't find what I want so the build begins.

Well let's see . Got the bed material cut and treated yesterday . Lights are wired as are the isolation and charging system . Added the battery box . The nylon strap will be replaced with a steel hasp and lock.... The wife ( brunette ) pulled her out in the sun to play hay ride. I think it...

    Building an elk hunting rig

Very nice . You might want to set it on skates before it get's muck heavier. I do like the sloping sides......

Bigfoot winter cold mods ....update diesel heater installation

Nicely done. I love the pics. I bet that little stove works great. Pretty much all TC's have fuel burning appliances between the bunks and the rear door. As Ida stated " that's why escape hatches and egress windows."

Ram vs. Chev vs Ford (3/4 ton)

Yup just like these. As seen on pg 3 If you pull the bed you will also find a few of these on every cross member where ever the bed contacts the frame. I never sed it was . What was sed was " some trucks have tanks suspended from the bed" Your response was ALL TRUCKS have frame mounted...

    Collection of Trailer Builds

A few years back I built a light weight off road trailer using a pre existing blow molded TD that was manufactured back in the late 70's as a base for the build. The camper shell or pod itself weighed less than 200lbs . It was ABS plastic . I surrounded it with an exo cage then added a roof...

Has anyone used Monstaliner on their camper and truck?

It will be interesting to see . I have used the Duplicolor version quite a bit but never on a TC. Stuff holds up well in all environments that I have exposed it to. Once I get tired of maintaining the raw aluminum skin on my TC I may just have to copy your plan. By the way, nice work.

Ram vs. Chev vs Ford (3/4 ton)

1 brand does not (That I know of) attach to the bed . Many actually do bolt to the bed floor. Some with the " flip plate" bolt to the bed with 4 - 6 grade 8 carriage bolts. I own one.... Re read my post . I never stated that the isolators were to be removed... Sorry. You are chasing your...

Ram vs. Chev vs Ford (3/4 ton)

You brought up experience , not me ..... I was just responding. You don't get my point . I never talked about removing them . When the hitch is installed it ties through the box of the truck essentially ridged mounting the bed. The isolators are still there , just not able to do there job...

Ram vs. Chev vs Ford (3/4 ton)

Try somewhere other than ebay for your research Ida. The first Ford blocks are not clips but vulcanized rubber mounts. Yes the Chevy mounts are from a 47-53 . Still isolators. The Nissans are from a current rig and the second Ford pic is for a 1995 F-250 / 350. All are isolators . All called...
