Side view mirrors mounted to the cab over?

Nice rig . I love it. Picture the mirrors mounted to a newer aluminum skin tough. 1 good wack and you have a leak. Then rot etc. This old rig ( my first ) had issues like that when we got it.

Steel frame with skin? What material choices?

R-Tech ridged insulation would be my advice for insulation. Available at Home Depot. Looks like your panels attach in such a way as to leave the chassis exposed when installed. That and the pass through tubes on all corners would make the use of .040 aluminum tough to seal. With a bit of...

Side view mirrors mounted to the cab over?

Years ago we had a Paris Valley camper with mirrors mounted to the overhang. they actually worked well. I must warn that they were prone to getting tangled in branches. One had to be very careful in tight spaces. Why not add a rear facing camera? It's to bad you don't have the stock Ford hoop...

Can't find what I want so the build begins.

While I still have a ton of smalls to get done on my camper, it is ready to be taken into the woods as is. My Daughter and Son in-laws camper is a different story. It is a late 60's Security 8.6 . We will be doing a face lift on it over the weekend . The Security has a molded fiberglass roof...

    Camp Shower Showdown

Heat exchainger system is an interesting idea. I do foresee prolonged wait times on cold mornings when the rig has set all night and needs to warm up before producing hot water. Plus, having to cold start a rig every time I want hot water doesn't sound appealing. The whole high idle thing in...

1986 Lance Squire LS3000 Overland Build

The barn wood doors are outstanding. I'm looking forward to the front cap. It should really set this Lance apart from all others.

I didn't document the mechanicals mainly because most of us have seen that work done a thousand times before and would be bored to tears re hashing it. To it's credit and to the credit of the trucks PO. It was in pretty good shape to start with. Most of what was done wasn't needed. But I'd...

I forgot how much fun outfitting an RV can be. The wife and I spent the entire day today shopping for such mundane things as biodegradable toilet paper, melamine plates, collapsible drinking cups etc. She has really taken this weight savings idea to hart. God bless her. She is having a ball...

Ram vs. Chev vs Ford (3/4 ton)

I hope the Scrambler faired better than this train wreck of a thread. (I freely admit my responsibility in sed wreck) and apologize to all. Mundo . If you can forgive me, we'd love to see ya next month. If not, I understand. I have a spot on Nicholai mountain that you may like. We role the...

A bunch. Mostly on the restoration and general maintenance side though. Very few modifications to the stock set up ( other than the bed.) I added new fuel tanks and lines. New fuel pumps. Replaced all of the brakes with all new parts. New dizzy. 100 amp alternator. Exhaust manifolds. EGR...

We loaded out the rig with our gear and the dog Sunday then took a drive. Needed to see how the rig drives when it is loaded. We had a good day . Truck drives really well. I still have a tone of smalls to accomplish but she is nearly ready. We are planning our first trip for next weekend...

Can't find what I want so the build begins.

Managed to get the cargo bays buttoned up yesterday. They should work well. I spent the rest of the day finishing up a few of the many items on my punch list. Not done yet but it is now a functioning RV. My wife and I are going to take the thing up into the woods today for a short test run ...

    Building an elk hunting rig

I like it. As a wise man once sed. " It's not what you can buy that counts. But rather, what you can build." I spent the better part of two days building my jacking system. Now that it won't be used again seems like a waist of time. But it did work well. You might want to check it out . It's...

I managed to get the doors roughed in yesterday . A bit of finishing and they should do the job well. Then on to the list of small tasks just to get her finished up. I'm planning a shake down trip for next weekend. Should be fun.

Today was a good day. Managed to get the skirts fabed up and installed. The Ford is starting to come together. Probably won't have the doors done until next week , Business and family take persistence . I figure 12 - 16 more hours and it's a done deal. Gotta paint the entry door, it's...
