In my application the 115 is housed in the upper glove box; so the MXT275 will allow operation solely from the handset (leaving the brain in the same place, likely the same bracket, in the glove box).
The 400 is def nice and I think we will end up with at least one at some point; but for my...
Concur.
While I'm also a HAM, after a friend got one of the Midland MXT's I decided it was time to get a GMRS lic and just installed an MXT115 into my LR3; looking forward to replacing it with the upcoming MXT275 already.
For as long as I've been into Land Rovers; white in....white out is for Jeeps.
That said, its your truck-I still think white in will look better with that setup.
That is awesome, it is wisdom I can't claim however-just something I've picked up over the years listening to folks with more experience than I-but I've found it to be 100% accurate.
Beautiful truck.
I will continue my constant refrain; the vast (VAST) majority of users in the vast majority of applications will never need a rear locker. Your truck doesn't have high and low range?
Out of the box, particularly with decent tires, these machines are incredibly capable offroad...
Getlost nailed it; I'd suggest you change all the fluids and such yourself to baseline the vehicle-and to lay your hands on her.
RRC's are rather simple, and extremely capable machines right out of the box. To address your question of being able to get groceries and explore moderate trails...
I'd suggest rebuilding a 4.2, or getting a 3.9/4.2 block and rebuilding it into a 4.6.
That may well be what happened with your aforementioned 94 Disco with a 4.6; the key being at that point someone has done a bit of work to get it working a 14 CUX truck.
A lower mileage 4.2 may be easier to...
Consolidating recovery gear, tweaking the cargo area, etc
Compilation of some maintenance and some tweaks to the back just for the sake of sharing.
Partner in crime and I took the front skid off the bumper to do some checking on things.
Well then. Note to self, prob need to do this about the...
I flipped this to two buddies that have LR4's just in case.
Your 17's make me jealous...and want MTs. Then I remind myself that I put KO2s on there for a reason.
Clunking noise while turning left, and folks are telling you about the rear dif?
Start with the far more likely scenario-you need to replace your front LCAs, as the bushings are gone. This is normal at that mileage given the weight of the truck.

Guy Fawkes 2017 at Twin Mountain
Nobody had to go to hospital.
That more/less sums up Guy Fawkes this year. What has traditionally been a small, eclectic crowd that converges onto John's property to celebrate did not disappoint but this year wasn't as dramatic as previous years, by design and...
It seems you are getting some very good substantive responses, I will try to be concise, not too redundant, and maybe add some (limited) value.
Like others I'm a bit of a tech nerd, with a desire to coordinate and communicate with others in the group, and externally.
Like most I started with...
It is always interesting to have different brand loyalists pop in and offer commentary like this, admittedly I may be biased b/c I don't tend to troll the other marquee subforums though.
But since this is a thread in the Land Rover section, I'll offer a counter perspective. Having had 3...
Wow, 276k on the motor (and assuming the body)-that's impressive.
I would consider fixing the grounds & the ignition stuff first to at least confirm that you have good ancillaries and such; then proceed with the engine swap if you want to put a fresh motor in. May well be worth grabbing...
So...I have questions!
-Why are you replacing the engine? Is there something wrong with the current motor, or is that just as part of the resto-b/c by and large I'd suggest you sort the issues with the truck with her running vice pulling the engine and then putting a new one and then trying to...
