    Connecting a 300W Inverter

It is what it is. The conductors here are all 12 gauge and it's high quality copper. I figure if its gone 93 years who am I to give a heave-ho? GFI are pretty clever little devices. https://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/FAN4149-D.pdf https://www.onsemi.com/pub/Collateral/FAN41501-D.pdf...

    Connecting a 300W Inverter

Is open neutral part of the 2015 revision to UL 943 for GFCI that now must self test and lock out? The list of recommended outlets Morningstar includes appears to be those newer style GFCI that you would find at Home Depot.

    Connecting a 300W Inverter

FWIW, just a data point I suppose. Toyota offered a factory installed inverter and I have one in my truck. It appears in the wiring diagram that the 120V outlet ground is tied to chassis and thus battery negative, which I verified is truly the case. The wiring diagram doesn't show a...

    Connecting a 300W Inverter

Morningstar doesn't give direction other than to say these GFCI are the only ones approved for using with this inverter. Morningstar doesn't clarify grounding, floating or NEC adherence any further other than the diagram nor do they mention shore power. Either way, grounded or ungrounded, a...

    Connecting a 300W Inverter

Note that this particular Magnum device is assumed to connect to shore power (e.g. the electrical grid) and has a transfer switch built in. It'll also reverse in stand-by and charge the battery. The rules and ABYC & NEC codes it follows are not universal for every generator or inverter nor...

    Blue Sea ACR Wiring Question

The B+ should just go straight to the battery. The domed black part is Bosch p/n 30090 (or similar like 1197311090) is the voltage regulator. The D+ terminal is probably (maybe?) for a tach or dash light. That might function as the charge, so it would need run from an ignition hot source...

    Blue Sea ACR Wiring Question

The alternator is either not working or not wired correctly. You're measuring the battery voltage for sure, though, you see it cranking and recovering a bit. Are you sure that's an externally regulated alternator you have? Having just one or two wires implies to me that it's internally regulated.

Downside to using residential solar panels (on top of a RTT)

That EPever Tracer3210AN MPPT solar controller might be a perfectly fine product or might be junk. Unless someone you know has one it's hard to tell. Companies like Victron and Morningstar have a large installed base and are well known. But the same components and contract manufacturers are...

    Tacoma Seat Covers

I assume these are for a Double Cab truck? I have an Access Cab but it would be handy to know what's all included because you might have a better deal than a single front row of Molle Coverkings for my truck.

Firefly Oasis carbon foam AGM battery

What is that? I've heard of a "redox shuttle additives" in reference to overcharge protection for lithium-ion. Just haven't heard of it w.r.t. to lead-acid. Have you got a primer you could point to?

    Bluetooth Module for Kenwood D710

Kenwood also offers memory management software for their ham radios for free. https://www.kenwood.com/i/products/info/amateur/mcp_2a.html

    Bluetooth Module for Kenwood D710

Ham radio is a weird thing. Sometimes very open and welcoming and other times snobbish. There's a lot of hams and lot of things to do in the hobby so I encourage newly licensed hams not to let it get you down. Throw your call sign out ("K6ABC listening") and if someone wants to talk it's all...

Need the solar/power pros to weigh in

If there's no Orion in the system then that is correct, the PS would have to be set high enough to charge or if there's a simple battery charger at or above it's absorption stage voltage.

Need the solar/power pros to weigh in

What is the exact device you're using to indicate the 12.91V? Is it a DC-DC converter or charger or just a battery monitor? You generally won't want to run a MPPT solar controller using a random DC power supply as a panel substitute. You can do that but the power supply needs to know how to...

Need the solar/power pros to weigh in

The Victron Orion (which I think is what he got if I'm not mistaken) is buck-boost, so it'll work with the power supply lower than the battery. That's the benefit of DC-DC power supplies, the power is converted rather than just matching in and out voltages like a simple PWM (or buck converter)...

Need the solar/power pros to weigh in

Didn't realize he was using a power supply. Depends I'd think on the power supply then, either the set point is too low for the DC-DC to start (likely) or it can't hold up under full load (not likely). Looks like the charger knows the battery is fully charged and hasn't been triggered to go...

Need the solar/power pros to weigh in

Is the engine running? What's the voltage on the alternator side? That 12.91V might be above a turn-on threshold for the charger although I'd expect it to at least step through it algorithm and be at float. But I'm not familiar with Victron, might be sitting disabled since the source isn't...

Front 7.5" Differential Rebuild Questions (4runner diff in Tundra with Tacoma axles)

I wouldn't worry, just don't get crazy and abuse it. I ran 4.7:1 t-case gears and 5.29 axle gears in my 1991 with the stock front 7.5" IFS (it wasn't a clamshell though) and it was still the CV axles that were the limit.

Front 7.5" Differential Rebuild Questions (4runner diff in Tundra with Tacoma axles)

@99Yota - the front end Brian Ellinger (Front Range Offroad Fab, https://frontrangeoffroadfab.com/) is running wasn't bolt-in so yes it's "possible" to run a later 8" IFS diff (and I think he was even working on one based on a 9" diff on the latest Tundra) but that's because he fabricated a...
