I fail to see the point of going to a low profile single 19.5 or 22.5 in anything, no benefit to it. You might as well keep the duals, at least you would get the safety aspect of having 4 wheels on the back in case of a blow out.
You still have to get from the vehicles 12 volt system to 120 volts for A/C (air conditioner?) typical RV rooftop air conditioners use about 120 amps at 12 volts DC. You would either need a fairly large battery bank going from the truck to the bank, or a dual inverters one from the truck...
Diplo, do you have any plans to remove the cassette and install a Natures Head?
I currently have a cassette toilet but I don't really like it and plan to go with a compositing toilet in my next build. I think if I had the SOG kit for the cassette it sounds like it would probably help, but I...
Thanks Diplo, Yes I saw where it sounds like XP is going a different route now then using the dual top. I have at this point decided to go with Espar for all the reasons you mention. I will be curious to see where XP mounts their Espar, everything I have read says it needs to be mounted outside...
Javajoe, that's what I was thinking with the espar. With the webasto that does not appear to be necessary as long as the intake and exhaust are plumbed to the outside. I am going to investigate Rixen which uses espar and is a complete kit but geared mainly to the van crowd.
I would just keep the duals. I don't see the point in going with 19.5's single. The dually will drive better, and be more stable and safe. You can't really air down 19.5 anyways so I fail to see the need to go singles. You also lose capacity.
What kind of camper is it? Those things loaded...
What camper box to you intend to go with and how much will it weight? Chances are you will probably be overweight.
At that price range I agree with the others that a diesel is probably not the best choice, the Ford will be beat to hell, and turning radius is not very good on those especially...
Trying to decide going with a Webasto dual top evo or Espar hydronic for heat and hot water. One of the issues is I believe Espar says the unit must be mounted outside, which I would rather not do since I am planing demountable box mounted onto a flat bed. I would NOT be tying into the...
I should clarify my post for future readers, I don't have any experience with the Ternoverland roof hatch other than looking at it at overland expo. It did appear to be more robust than the Dometic roof hatch. With the customer support from Ternoverland their roof hatch also is probably better...
I was really impressed with the ArticTern windows at overland expo, however I didn't really care for the roof hatch. I have a Heiki one of the older versions and to put it nicely is garbage. I could see going with ArticTern for windows and outbound for the roof hatch.
