Affordable in subjective, especially in this case. I believe with the truck pictured above optioned with mastervolt etc. the price is 270K. That's cheap if your income is a 1,000,000 dollars a year.
Not sure how any could claim 270k and let's face it, a luxury item is "affordable" . It's...
MPT81 is a softer compound and will likely work better on icy roads and rocks compared to the G275. If that is #1 on your list of priorities they are probably a better choice.
Reports I have seen from others is Contis wear extremely fast, also only speed rated to 68 mph vs 80 with G275. But...
you might have been fine with 33's in a landcruiser with 16 or 17 inch rims, but if going single rear wheel, wheel size is 20" not much sidewall on a 35" tire on a 20 inch rim, also you would have to account for the carry capacity of the tires. LT tires aren't rated for much weight. Best...
You are looking at a large truck camper with slides and a 1 ton dually or 5500 series truck to meet all your requirements, but would likely suffer in the offroad department.
Awesome to hear about the seperette toilet. I have a cassette toilet, and believe the seperette is a far superior if given the option, the #1 going into the grey tank is just icing on the cake.
IdahSho, looks nice. It appears with the method you are using vs. a spring mount that you would be able to keep the height of the box lower to the frame rails.
I agree, but if the OP is at capacity at 80 psi, then that does not leave much for going lower. I think going beyond what the mfg. recommends is fine as far psi is concerned for slow trail driving. In my case, I air down because the dirt roads of Baja can be so damn bad sometimes and it allows...
Surprised your set up weights that much, I always thought those older non slide Lance campers were lighter. The arctic fox is probably 5000 lbs. possibly more depending on how much equipment comes along.
I would guess the rear axle weight of the OP's set up is probably near 7,500 lbs possibly...
LeftCoastKiteboard, the arctic fox probably weighs twice as much as your Lance. You are right though, if the OP has no complaints about the way the truck and camper handle then going with the highest load capacity LT tire is probably wise.
I still don't get what a load range F tire is though...
IdaSho, any pictures of how you attached to flatbed to the frame? I am guess springs at the front and bolted at the rear with 'guides' welded in to keep it from shifting side to side?
Edit: nevermind I see the single pivot point in the back
It would be nice to know the total load on the rear axle. If the camper is 5,000 lbs and the rear empty weights 3,000 lbs. The OP would already be above or at max limit for any light duty single rear wheel rim and tire. In an off camber situations that could transfer a greater amount of...
I have a Heiki skylight in my truck camper that has fallen apart, these things are really junky and a replacement is ridiculous expensive. Where you able to directly fit that Maxwell roof hatch in its place without any modifications?
Nice, that's what I thought. it looks like you got the weekender model. I was going to go with the seperette toilet as well. Did you have the urine divert to the grey tank? Are you planning on travel outside the US?
The issue I see you could run into is with 4 people using the urine diverter, it could fill up in less than half a day! My suggestion would be to go with the Seperette composing toilet and divert the urine into your grey tank.
