From memory PK, don't buy ANYTHING from Fraser Island, look for the leaks from the join in the roof, check where the transfer case selector cables run from the cab past the front cross member because they can rub right through, make sure they have done the wheel bearings within the last 40K...
639 had the 3.9, but 637 had the 4.2.......and 649 had the 3.9electricT/IC.
I suppose 6 is the max GVM, as in tons.
I haven't really given it much thought until now!!
Awesome!!!!!! Love the Ali, but you'd better paint it with something before you venture out into the tropical sun with it. I can't even stand on the roof of our trucks without footwear. With the painted ones, i can dance from rag to rag......
But it looks cool!!!!!
Gee Kerry, now I'm trying to remember... were they an FG647, I seem to recall something I worked on having the exhaust brake on a stalk that worked like a high beam dipper switch, but I think that was an NPS.
I didn't think that the 99 models had a warm up, as they only came out on the 3.9 t...
The rocker switch below the hazard lights is a warm up only, as it bypasses oil to make it heat up quicker, we don't use it in the tropics, but in colder environments it is a handy thing. I personally wouldn't use it as the exhaust brake, even though the exhaust brake is one of the functions of...

How many miles on the rig?
K&N didn't make much difference to mine...
Check the intake just below the top, there is a massive restriction via a water extraction. I removed this and replaced with a straight stainless intake with slight improvement, donaldson ram feed intake on top makes it better...
I don't think it would be too hard, you could make it all independantly selectable i.e. 2wd, then 4wd, then 6wd using the pto not unlike the 6X6 perentie landrover. Not much allowance for slippage, but then you'd only use it on unsealed surfaces (just had a flashback to the old signs they had on...
When Andrew Says Compound, I'd say that is in series? yes...no....wait??
BTW, the shorty is awesome on the telegraph track onCape York Peninsula!!!
Check out the Avatar ^
OK, this is the endless circle that we have been travelling since everyone stepped out of Arkanas and 6X4 tourers in our industry. They BOTH have the pitfalls and associated BS that comes with ANYTHING japanese. P1ss poor steel quality, only made to last 5 years (lease life) having said that, I...
Hey John,
Might wan to be careful cutting down that exhaust, very touchy subject matter.
Something about it changing the DP and stuffing it allup. Might be wrong though.
The other cause for concern is Isuzus, change it and no warranty issue.
I hope they upgraded the diffs, which I'm sure they...
