LG Chem RESU lithium ion batteries - incredible!

These look like the future. When the time comes I think I will do two of 9.9kwh batteries for full time use. It says they are compatible with victron inverters.

    Beefed Up Half-Ton Suspension?

You are looking at damn near 5,000 lbs loaded with that Host camper, and on a half ton? Sounds dangerous, stressful to drive. Are you sure your wife will want to ride in it? They could take a seperate car to the campsite as an option. There is no amount of suspension work you can do that will...

    Beefed Up Half-Ton Suspension?

Even if you "beef up the suspension" it's still a half ton, and when overloaded will drive like crap, it's part of the deal. Always a trade off. I am overweight even with 'beefed up suspension' to handle it, and you can notice it, not bad on the freeway, but in Baja it becomes a problem, it's...

New Expedition Camper - Overland Explorer

The 19.5's will probably work the best for you based on your needs, You could also just keep the duallys, there are some real benefits to a dual rear wheel truck, stability and safety being an example. An LT tire even one rated for 4,000 lbs like IdaSho is using wouldn't be enough or leave...

Thoughts on Kelderman 4 link suspension for an offroad expedtion Camper

Only thing I can think of would be to ask Earthroamer owners, I believe that's what they use?

New Expedition Camper - Overland Explorer

What tires have you found that fit that requirement? Everything I have seen is either a light truck tire, highest load I have seen is a 37x17x13.5 Toyo MT at 4300 lbs for tire. Going up from there puts in the 20 inch wheel MPT territory. I did find some Pirelli Ps22 335/80/20 same or similar...

    Earthroamer or other.

Ram 5500 cab and chassis with 108 cab to axle, 12 foot flatbed, 12 foot camper built to your specs from xpeditioncamper from camperlogic.com ( has a build thread on here a few spaces down). Pirelli 335/80/20 ps22 tires. This in my mind is a much cheaper and better built set up than an...

New Expedition Camper - Overland Explorer

If you haven't bought the 19.5 wheels yet, Stazworks might be able to build you a beadlocked 19.5

    Air conditioning without a generator

Ya, I am still trying to figure out and decide if it would be better to go with dual inverters one dedicated 230 volt for a standard high efficiency mini split or the pure 48 volt version. I know there are also losses going from DC to AC. I was planning on skipping 12 volts all together and...

    Air conditioning without a generator

Did you end up with a 220 volt unit? IF so, what step up transformer thing are you using? On a side, I think in the future more and more RV's and boats will see 48 volt systems for the electrical side as lithium becomes more mainstream and it allows the use of higher current electrical...

    Air conditioning without a generator

It would be important to know if the "sun technologies" unit uses a variable speed compressor like what is found on the most efficient mini split units. If you cool the camper down initially and it finds its sent point it might only need 350 watts or 3000 btus to maintain temp.

Help design my adventure van power system please

I think you are going to need the LifePo batteries, if for no other reason than to mitigate the large voltage drop you will see with the AC running from lead acid batteries. I don't think you are going to get your overnight run time though with just 200 amp lithium batteries. Personally I would...

GOVE Global Overland Vehicle Economical build.

what exactly is new wheel and tire set up? Do they allow for airing down? I found being able to do that the biggest advantage to baja backroad driving.

Rough ride - Wheels and Tires - 19.5's to 20" LT's? or Suspension

Pirelli makes the PS22 in a 335/80/20 that is a similar tread pattern to the xzl and is rated at 7,000 lbs PER tire! They can be bought on Ebay for 300$ new plus shipping.

Newb with questions... and an eventual build thread.

I highly doubt you will come in anywhere close to 2000 lbs dry. Even some of the professionals on here using lightweight composite panels come in at 3,000 lbs, and they have a tone of experience. I would look into doing something with panels from totalcomposites.com he is a sponsor on here...

4x4 Sprinter, way to go, or go away?

No additives won't work with regards to ULSD, as far as MB updating the emissions components in 18, I see it as a possible improvement, the emissions control equipment on diesels has only gotten better and I believe will continue to improve.

4x4 Sprinter, way to go, or go away?

There is plenty of diesel available in Central and SOuth America, that's not the problem. THe problem is this van would require a type of diesel fuel not found there. Not really any ULSD in central america either, if you take the van down there or even mexico it will likely break down due to...
