    F450/550 DRW to SRW conversion

F550 with custom flat bed and custom camper is not going to be cheap any way you slice it. The cost of custom wheels and switching from DRW to SRW will be at the very bottom as far as price goes. You are probably looking at close to $2000 for tires, possibly more, wheels, anywhere from $1000 to...

    Dually or single rear wheel?

Cab and chassis rams have a narrower rear axle.

    Dually or single rear wheel?

In places in Central America, where the OP's last trip took place, the diesel PPM sulfur content is sometimes over 5000! Definitely not ULSD. I say stick with your current truck, if you go used on another one you are taking a risk on an unknown, at 240k I think it would be cheaper and make...

    How tall is too tall?

I would say under 11' Preferably more like 10'5. I would be concerned about the small market towns since you will likely not be able to avoid many of them, even if you just parked your rig on the pan am and bussed it to towns off that road. For the camper I think if you could do a lifting...

    Input -Van,Full Size or other

The van would be more comfortable as far as "live in" type of travel vs. sleeping in the back of the truck, Unless of course you went with a camper on the back of the truck, but that would be likely out of your budget.

Any limit to how fast lithium ion batteries charge?

I have see people put 250 amps into them, but I am not sure of their max acceptance rate. 0.3c? not sure. I think putting more than 250 amps back in might be a real challenge.

    Dodge 2500/truck camper questions

The truck will not break or snap in half, but you are going to find that you will end up being a lot more than just 500 lbs over GVWR. I also am not convinced air bags will help with stability, a lot of times they make it worse, what they will do is level the truck out, especially side to side...

    Advice: MAX Wheel/Tire Weight

Seems like a bad idea. Personally I would go for 37x17 Toyos for the close to same load capacity but with more sidewall for a better ride offroad, not to mention a lot let weigh than using those heavy rims. But I bet the MRAP wheels look good, just doesn't seem to make a lot of sense given the...

    Xpedition Camper out of Minnesota

The lizard skin looks like a really good idea. Can't wait to see when the interior is done, and if you are going to be at expo this year a chance to see it in person once again.

Ram 3500- 68RFE or Aisin, help me build!

If you are going to forego the dual alternators for "reliability/simplicity sake" why get all the fancy bells and whistles upgrade from the tradesman? I guess coming from a 20 year old mechanically driven cummins it's hard to make sense of that, especially if you are planning to go 'remote'...

    Camper box build

xpedition camper, he posts in earthroamer global expedition vehicle section. Will do custom work, pretty much anything you want, and when I checked it out in person, it seemed extremely rugged and would be 'baja rated'. The website also has some details about possible options.

    Window or wall air conditioner?

3/4 ton mini split would the option I would look into. But you might not have the space for one, so far they are the most efficient.

California to Panama in a T100

    1. I second buying in the US, check out Evolved surfboards, made in USA and fair priced. 3. I would also carry more than $100 I think $400 would be good, it helps at border crossing when you exchange some money and have some on hand before you can find an ATM machine.

    Help me choice a generator/fuel

I have a Yamaha 2000 that I used in Central America, it works but to be honest it's loud and annoying when running the AC because it wont do it on eco mode, the RPM's have it wrapped out. I parked next to some guys in CO that had just aquired a used Unimog camper from GXV and it had a diesel...

    Project "Autonomous" F-350

I looked at the mfg website, says they are D rated, which is the reason I asked. I realize they have a max load of 3525 lbs. Thanks for the info, I am trying to find a suitable tire to carry the weight of my next camper.

    Project "Autonomous" F-350

Not sure if you mentioned it in the past or not, but are you concerned about having this heavy of a camper with only D rated tires? I like the ride you get with 17's and 37's but hardly any I have found are E rated, except the famous Toyo M/t but the damn thing is near 15 inches wide.

6.7 power stroke Earthroamer engine rebuilds

I hear the 6.7's are a lot better than previous generation motors like the 6.4 and 6.0. It wouldn't be my personal choice for a motor in an expedition vehicle since I believe better options exist. They say you don't have to lift the cab to work on a 6.0 or 6.4 but it is fairly common for a shop...

    Payload of 2017 F350 SRW 8' box 4 door 4wd XL...

According to the Lance website the 1172 comes it at 4075 lbs dry, not wet, and it is confusing when you say you have a 'backpacking gear set' but yet will be traveling in a massive triple slide in camper, it doesn't add up. Throw in the 4 inch lift plus 37" inch tires on a 17" inch rims and...

School me on the topic of toilets ;)

Thanks Diplo, I will look into the tigerforum you posted. I guess I can't tell what's different about the Natures Head, It seems with the fit rv the problem is with capacity. I didn't think the Natures Head had anymore capacity? Nice to know you can get over a few weeks use of the NaturesHead...
