    AventureBuddies' 2006 Ram 3500 expedition build - XP Camper V1

    Go with the 20 inch super singles that can go on the front or back and be done. swapping axles seems like a lot of work just to move the rear tires in a couple inches on each side.

    Tc650 owners-Tundra/Silverado/f150?

    They are the exact same physical size. Driving a 3/4 ton will be no different than a 1 ton. With the 1 ton you get more payload, higher resale. If you start looking at diesels, the straight six cylinder diesels seem to get better mpg.

    Amps oh my

    Seems much simpler to just run a smaller AC off a 2000 watt genny. How much does 600 ah agm batteries weigh? Will it leave much room for you take your personal belongings with you? You need to charge the batteries back to above full is how I understand it if you want to maximize battery life...

    Tc650 owners-Tundra/Silverado/f150?

    Mines, older and known for good mpg, I can guarantee you I get better mileage with the camper I have (its a hard side and a huge wind sail) than an eco boost or a silverado or Tundra. I also have more available torque which is nice for driving with a load and an exhaust brake, also nice for...

    If you are thinking 3/4 ton, might as well go 1 ton if you are buying. More payload, same exact physical size.I drove a 3/4 ton long bed Dodge diesel all over mexico and central america, no problem for me, but I am used to it. Now I am taking same truck plus 2,500 lb. hard sided Northstar camper...

    What did you do to your hard-sided truck camper recently?

    I didn't put in a powerwall, but managed to message two 6 volt golf cart batteries into the battery compartment of my northstar adventure. I also installed a Trimetric battery monitor and a progressive dynamics 'boondocker' smart converter. Next up a 'maggies rack' roof rack and solar!

    Sounds like f150 if you want any chance of staying near GVWR. My opinion would be to seriously consider a 3/4 or really 1 ton shortbed .

    Post Pics of Your Hard Side Camper!

    Just put 2,000 miles on them, so far they are good, a little more firm planted since new. I really have nothing to compare them too though and I tend to tolerate a lot more since I drive an older Dodge.

    Ulysses the Uhaul - Strategic Surf Assault Vehicle project build

    The restaurant owners somehow got it in their head about 5 years ago that WVO was worth the same as gold, large "green" companies came in and swooped up all the WVO. You can still find it if your resourceful and put in the time, but as I get older I consider my time the same as money, and when...

    Ulysses the Uhaul - Strategic Surf Assault Vehicle project build

    Looks good, great exacution, tons of space to chill out in. It also looks like you have a nice shop to do just about anything you want to it. My only other comment is a warning about WVO, I would seriously consider not doing it. I have had two trucks converted to WVO a 92 Ford IDI that spent 5...

    @Adrifters - F550 Surf Camper Build - Adrift Motorhome

    If you go diesel, go Ram, much easier motor to work on, and the new ones with DEF are returning some pretty good mileage.
