2018 Ram 3500 G56 Expedition Family Adventure Vehicle

I'm so happy to see this project finally getting the love and attention it deserves. I'm looking forward to seeing some pictures of the pair in action from your journey in the coming weeks.

    2024 Casita 17' Spirit Deluxe

The camper is back from Casita with a level kitchen counter. Happy to report that Casita covered the warping under warranty and assured me that it was further reinforced to accommodate the heavier, deeper sink. I ended up throwing one of their new grayscale decals on the front to add a...

    I'm BACK!!! 2023 F-250 Tremor build

Because I can do flat-bed things, by taking the canopy off, and I'd like to change things up and gain easy access storage from the outside. I've always wanted a flatbed setup, and who knows, I might consider a FWC or something similar in the future, and that would allow for that change should I...

    I'm BACK!!! 2023 F-250 Tremor build

But no camper, a true canopy. More along the lines of this, RTT to be determined.

    I'm BACK!!! 2023 F-250 Tremor build

I am starting to kick around the idea of going with a flatbed and possible canopy setup for the truck here in the next year.

Don't worry, I busted his balls about it a few times, made no difference lol.

Is GM not the best platform for a overland build?

I get it, you're a GM fan boy, no big deal. But you aren't going to convince many here that it's the better truck. IMHO, GM has been trash for the last 25 years.

Is GM not the best platform for a overland build?

GM as two brands under one manufacturer might have sold more than Ford in total, but neither brand came close on their own. I still find it silly that they offer both brands. It makes zero sense as there's very little difference between the two, and you pay 5% or more for it to say 'GMC', and it...

Power Wagon as a family Exploration Vehicle

It's not so much the length of the hood, it's the shape and the height of the dash and the angle of the windshield. I always felt like the cab of the RAM was more cramped than that of the Ford.

Power Wagon as a family Exploration Vehicle

That's a great way to look at it. Accept the less than stellar range in favor of it being a utility knife type platform. I still love the PW, it just doesn't fit into my needs/use-case scenario at the moment.

    Chilliwak?

Book Face sucks, I got off of there in 2014 and agreed, you can't find ********.

    Chilliwak?

This is the truth, this forum in many ways is all but dead sadly. I get 1-2 good trips in per year these days and half the time I don't do it justice in terms of documenting it properly.

    Set Me Straight

I camp in RV parks when it fits the agenda of my trip. Quick overnights where I need to stay close to the interstate for an early start, spots where I am doing a 2-4 day trip in a stationary place and I'll really only use the RV to sleep at night, that kind of thing. They have their place but...

    2024 Casita 17' Spirit Deluxe

Those are BAL 7500 scissor jacks front and back, took those pathetic little ones they come with on the back off and had mounting plates welded on so they can be bolted on and removed/replaced if ever damaged. Casita Works sells the plates. The cool thing is I can jack the trailer up in a few...

    I'm BACK!!! 2023 F-250 Tremor build

I took the trailer out this weekend, the truck averaged 16.8 mpg with wild winds both up and back.

    2024 Casita 17' Spirit Deluxe

I had a quick two-night trip to Fredericksburg this weekend for a motorcycle event. We had 3+ inches of rain early Saturday morning with 45+ mph winds and pea size hail, the trailer took it like a champ, no leaks or issues. I really do wish I could keep this little trailer for my solo travels.

That's the same model and you're fine, it can handle it.

    I'm BACK!!! 2023 F-250 Tremor build

Two week report, it's all gravy baby. Much improved ride, especially over anything larger than small bumps. I have found myself three clicks out from the softest setting for every day driving. I should be towing this weekend if the weather cooperates, I'll report back on my findings there if I do.
