be worth a try in an emergency the tough thing is not like you can really try it out before needing it. I used to practice with the mushroom plugs when I had a worn out tire on my motorcycle so I know that if I needed to patch on a dark night I could do it no problem but at $50 too much for me...
I tell you who has really good customer service is GFC. I just bought a used GFC that is slightly under 1 year old but in that years time GFC has improved the hinge system and has offered to upgrade the hinges on every single previous camper free of charge and in fact they are driving around...
they are simple. if you look under your truck you see the rivnuts go into hex holes so the rivnuts do not spin. just use the tool and torq to like 20-25 ft/lbs Mopar makes a hardware kit for them if you don't already have the hardware.
they go thru the pinch seams and then into the rockrails. when you see them you see they only go on one way. they are a 40lb or so i used a floor jack and jack stands to hold them in place.
both, you need the 6 rivinuts on each side and then the 6 bolts per side thru the pinch welds. the bolts that are thru the pinch seams thread into the rock rails. Simple job.
I wonder how true the fit. I found that for some reason clothing has gotten smaller over the last couple of years. Seems like for some reason they have all become mis-labeled they have been labeling 34" as 36" seems industry wide.
I guess if they told me they don't fix them and offered me a deep discount on another unit I think I would okay with that. For sure the minute they told me they don't repair them I would have opened that sucker up. You never did say what they sold the new one to you for. Let me ask you this...
I can think of very few things that I own that have plug in or have an off on switch that if I dropped from say waist height would not have a high chance of breaking including my dewalt power tools and they are pretty tough. Not sure if I kicked them as they were on their way to the ground how...
