    Overland Journal: G-Wagen

The first test on the dirt, including a full diff lock function check and articulation/tire clearance check. The 33.2 x 10.5" tires are about perfect on this truck with the 40MM lift and allow full compression without rubbing. I swear these Falken tires have the best adhesion on dry rock of...

    All-Pro Offroad’s newest Expedition Tacoma Build - APex1 " Brownie "

That should look great. I have a Slimline on my G-Wagen, and it is a nice quality (and lightweight) rack.

Engine Braking For Steep Downhill Grades with a 2013+ Range Rover

Shift into sport, but do not activate a paddle shifter. The car will downshift nicely when you depress the brake pedal, and hold a lower gear. All of the modern Rovers will downshift aggressively in sport mode and provide assistive compression braking.

The install is extensive, but not difficult. The most painful part is cutting the fender flares ;)

    1999 Disco I 300TDi: Fixes, Mods, & Trips

Good advise here. I ran my Disco almost entirely stock for over a year and was seriously impressed with the performance. Maybe some rocker protection in addition to the slightly taller springs and +1 tire size. I still run 245/75 R16 on Discovery and have run some pretty tough trails and long...

    Overland Journal: G-Wagen

Thanks Jeremy. I am leaning pretty hard towards getting the Hutchinsons and keeping the factory 18s for daily use.

It really depends on the car. Some are pretty far in the tolerance range for the arm, so you need to shift everything higher, and then adjust with the IID Tool. For example, my MKIII Range Rover only allowed 20mm of lift because one of the rear arms was so far that direction already.

    1999 Disco I 300TDi: Fixes, Mods, & Trips

You should expect closer to 30mm with a load. An OME will be closer to 50mm

Just arrived back at headquarters. She drives perfect. Could not be more happy. Look for more updates as the restoration continues.

Took her out for a Sunday drive and a little field time. With the G-Wagon back on the road, I have some restoration plans and full service scheduled for the Disco

Steve, I will likely change the suspension height less now, given the overheat warning we received on the last run. I do change the height often, as ride quality, stability, articulation and performance reduces in off-road mode. With the 33" tire and the 60mm of lift I have in "normal" mode...

Yeah, the truck is still open in the rear. Christophe did engage the front locker on that climb, which helps some, but a rear locker is far superior for those conditions (if you can only have one). The rear locker is available for all LR3s, LR4s and RRSs until early 2010. ARB is working on a new...

We needed to stop for less than 5-minutes to let the compressor cool. All vehicles with air suspensions can indicate a heat warning if the compressor runs too much. In this case, I was raising and lowering the suspension with some regularity. We had the same thing happen on the trail with a new...

Is that the 449? I rode one of those on the White Rim recently - SO MUCH FUN!

    INTERESTING

It is a good discussion, and ultimately these are all just opinions as none of us have tested the vehicle and it is still just vaporware. If he actually takes it all the way around the world with his daughter, I will gladly and ceremoniously eat crow. I do hope the experience is all this guys...
