The manuals were downloadable for the years they were posted. I'm sure there are folks who have a copy cached on their portable hard disks someplace (smile), although the indexing for the download was a PITA. The site owners note they received a take down notice and have posted a link to the...
EPA and FMVSS regulations make private imporation of a late model vehicle near impossible if it wasn't built certified to US standards. If you'd like to learn more, google is your friend -- there are hundreds of sites talking about this, and near the top will be FAQs from the relevant agencies...
The Blue Sea USB outlet I installed took a few minutes with a round file to enlarge the existing 12V outlet hole. The outlet's exterior trim is oversized, so while my work was neat it didn't have to be perfectly cut. The Blue Sea instructions note the hole diameter required -- 30mm, IIRC-- but...
I think that's the way some Hilux bullbars were mounted a few years ago, although now it kinda looks like ARB have a design with a built-in filler. (photo from arb.co.au)
I mounted one of the Blue Sea double-USB outlets in place of one of the 12V power points in the lower console of my 2001 Tacoma DC. Works perfectly, and I really didn't need three 12V outlets there. It charges my iPad just fine.

I think ARB dropped the recovery points on most of their new products -- some sorta liability concerns IIRC. Certainly my circa 1996 early-XJ bullbar has them, as does my circa 2009 Gen 1.5 Tacoma bullbar.
The tow hook on the Gen 2 Tacoma is a different design from the earlier ones -- I've not...
I saw several of the VW Up model in Denmark last week -- not all that common in Europe yet. Boy, that car is *tiny* for a SUV platform! Much tinier -- at least in Up form-- than it looks in that photo. Think smaller than a Mini, or even a Fiat 500.
I love minicars, but that one is just too...

Mark, thanks for setting up for another run. You'll soon see my order for a pair of them.

We're up against the last weekend of summer and you're honked that people aren't responding to you in a few hours? Heck, consider yourself suitably acknowledged simply by having people read the post at all in the runup to Labor Day. Here -- have a beer -- or a cup of coffee -- relax. We all...
I don't quite get some of his assumptions. Maybe there's more than I realize, but 500 lb as the weight pivoting on the hinge seems high. And 95% of the deployed weight acting on the torsion bar also seems very high -- I thought that was mostly a static load borne by the hinges and the hood prop...
Congratulations on bringing your vision into reality. That's gotta be immensely satisfying. Kudos to the craftsmen who pulled it off. The tailgate is still my favorite part!

Rust is always much worse than it looks. You might be surprised when you start grinding or blasting it out. I'm a big fan of POR-15 for projects like this -- the best product I've ever used for this purpose.
