    Things I think I need

The Land Rover intro course is a great start, particularly with understanding the systems of the LR4. I would recommend a 2-3 day course with Overland Experts. They have facilities in NH and Virginia (I believe). These guys completely get it and have an academic approach to training (which is...

Limited Slip or Locker for 2WD van

The selectable locker will be the ultimate solution - for all scenarios. Unfortunately, it is also the most expensive and be sure to invest in proper installation. In a 2wd, the goal will be to have as much traction as possible from the two rear tires and the ability to engage or disengage the...

    Viking GS-9

I installed one on my GWagen, it is indeed made by the same company that builds Superwinch. There are a few notable benefits of this winch, on par with the Warn, including the contactor solenoid, viking winch line, machined aluminum cross-brace, etc. It is a high quality winch with a unique...

From Russia with Love: A Ural Gear-Up Project

In Arizona, neither the rider, pillion or sidecar passenger are required to wear a helmet. However, the sidecar rider can carry a loaded AK47... This is still the wild west

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

Practical position= left side. Curb loading Aesthetic position= Right side (passenger). Matches the Discovery, covering the noc (dip) on the right side. Practically, it also leaves the license plate alone, etc.

Limited Slip or Locker for 2WD van

There are driver-selectable locking differentials, and then there are compromises (everything else). If you intend to drive your vehicle only in the desert, then some type of mechanical traction device might make sense. If you intend to use your van on mixed terrain, including low traction...

Overland Journal Project Land Rover Discovery 4 (LR4)

The LC200 is a brilliant highway cruiser; safe, comfortable and exceptionally reliable. I am mostly just bitter at Toyota for calling it a Land Cruiser. . .

    Things I think I need

Congratulations on your first 4wd adventure with the LR4. Be sure to acknowledge your wife's concerns and fears while driving off-highway. I would recommend getting 4wd training or spend some time with experienced local 4wd owners first (it helps if they have an understanding of those complex...

Motor Trend video - 2013 G63 AMG vs 2013 Range Rover

I found it interesting that he indicated the Range Rover does not have a diff lock. It should have at least the center differential lock and the rear active differential lock is listed as an option.

Newest Released Next Generation Defender Pic

Base model 4-door Wranglers can be purchased new for about 27k. The Wrangler worth buying is over 40k If we just do a simple inflation calculation, the 1997 Defender 90 Wagon was $34,000 msrp. In 2013 dollars, that is a $49,310.17 truck. The dollar is doing ok against pound at the moment...

    LR3 Engine Stall, Vapor Lock

I am still reasonably convinced it is an evap canister / altitude / pressure issue, especially since multiple vehicles have experienced it and none resulting in a fault code or failure to start. It might be worth checking the pressure in the tank the next time you gain some serious altitude...

    I'm brand new to motorcycles

X2 If it will be mostly used on the dirt, go small and light. Be sure to budget for proper riding gear, it is 'spensive.

Newest Released Next Generation Defender Pic

We will be lucky if it is 40k in a four-door. The Rubicon 4-door is already over 40k. I suspect the Defender 4-door will be closer to 50k, pushing into 60k with the appropriate HD packages, etc.

    XPCamper Updates

What an awesome sight. Who would have imagined ten years ago that we would have two, high-quality tray-on camper options made in the USA? Can't wait to see them in person.

New Four Wheel UTE Flat Bed Model Coming Soon ...

4WC just posted this to Facebook. I am extremely impressed. I hope to have a close look at the Overland Expo, but this might be the most significant camper development to hit North America in years. Tons of clearance, side entry, tray-on, way more interior room and storage, and all on the best...
