Advice on a platform for a FWC or other slide in

Hello all, this inquiry is for my parents. They travel with us quite a bit and often take refuge in our SMB when storms roll in when camping. This has happened often enough that it got them thinking about ditching their tent for more comfortable accommodations when "car camping". So, they are...

BulletProofDiesel EGR Cooler (& new oil cooler)

I have been planning on flushing soon and switching over to ELC. I have been running a coolant filter for about 15k miles now. It's amazing to see the crap that's floating around in the coolant system!

BulletProofDiesel EGR Cooler (& new oil cooler)

Sorry to hear about your troubles. The EGR/oil cooler issue is probably the biggest problem with the engine. How long had your coolant filter been on? If and when mine goes I will go with the BPD setup and I intend on switching the coolant from Ford Gold to the stuff International uses, ELC...

    EarthRoamer Suspension, getting it done!

Trailsurfer, I envy your vehicle lineup, wow! Just curious what your impressions are on the Earthroamer vs. the SMB. Granted , I imagine that the ER is way more plush and comfortable than the SMB. What is your choice for mostly off road travel between the two?

Great stuff! Kudos to your perseverance! I gotta say though, it doesn't look like much fun, or rather dealing with threat issues doesn't sound fun.

    7.3L vs. 6.0L vs. V10 Sportsmobile

We have an 04 6.OL and love it. No real problems other than some issues from it sitting for months with the PO. The 6.0L is a horrible engine for ambulances and I wouldn't totatlly judge it by that. Ambulances frequently do all of the following that are not 6.0 friendly: Extended idling...

    Coyote Flat, CA (5-days)

That sucks, no other way to put it. Quick question: Can you get a full size up there (SMB)? It's been years since I have been there and I was only there once.

Do you need a 4x4 SMB?

Due to a recent hub failure I found out that in wet conditions a 10,000lb 2wd van sucks.

    Ford F700 Build

I'd say if the pass through is that important to you, continue the box lines with fabbed sheetmetal and framework. You can keep the passage way through the center and have storage cabinets built in on either side. These could be exterior accessible compartments similar to the ones already on the...
