Thanks.
I did not re-gear the truck though I wish I could. A rule to towing is always use a vehicle one size larger than the trailer you are towing.
I've talked to many Subaru drivers towing small trailers and their lamenting about getting 12 mpg or less and no power. Just because it can...
Finally got it. It had the wrong hitch and missing the awning side walls. At least, the trailer is going to work out for us.
Tows like it is not there. Hard to keep it down under 85. Mileage at 80 mph has been 8 mpg. Outstanding.
I had no problem transporting my 4570 and 12-gauge to Alaska across Canada.
I have all my paperwork correctly filled out and the key was telling the customs officers I was transporting them to Alaska.
I was told in no uncertain terms that firearms are not permitted for self-defense.
I had...
Without pulling a trailer driving 80- 85 I'm getting about 10 and 1/2 miles per gallon.
The cell booster works as advertised. Many people think it creates a signal. There has to be a signal to boost.
A super charger would be nice but you can buy a long range tank and a lot of gas the that money.
I experienced the same in Bolivia. Even though we had Jeeps, Broncos and a Blazer the only trucks that left the camp were the Land Cruisers. Most of the American trucks were broke in some way so they just sat in the motor pool.
Is your hood made of metal ? If so you could use a mag mount. Your kids will be fine.
You want your antenna as high as possible in the air. If you mount the ghost antenna on the spare tire it will radiate mostly through the vehicle. limiting the range.
The whip would work great on the tire...
Looking at pictures, I had the Frontrunner can holders.

You would just need to make an extension for the hose. I forgot what can carriers I had. I got them over 15 years ago. Frontrunner, Rhino Rack and ARB makes them.
Your roof is just fine with that little bit of weight. You might need a small platform rack to attach to the factory cross bars...
At 71+ you might not want to deal with lifting and holding 35 pound cans. You can put the cans on the roof of the truck. You can stand on the tailgate to fill them up and then use a super siphon to fill the truck. The cans would sit on their backs . That is how I had my spare gas on my...
Rather than carrying gas in cans why not get a long range tank for the Forerunner? A lot less hassle than dealing cans. I carry 64 gallons of on board gas in my Land Cruiser.
I will carry an extra 10 gallons in cans for the Alaska trip just in case or to help someone in need.
