    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

I doubt I'd improve the situation by responding to Dion's post, except to admit that, yes, I did expect him to do the tasks specified in the contract and to purchase the things I'd provided the money for.

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

Thanks very much, Paul. I appreciate your thoughtfulness. Interestingly, before the Jeep went to Iowa, I got out and stored your streetside drawers and tables, bench cushions, upper bed platform, floor, lots of the drawer slides, and some other items. So compared to other variations, there's a...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

I really appreciate the suggestions. Personally, I'm not currently a good candidate for putting much more money into the truck, but your ideas are great for showing how if the truck gets sold, the new owner could be up and running in pretty quick fashion. There are lots of pictures on the web...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

A sensible question, but there's a lot of stuff that needs to be done that he'd have to hire other people to do . . . parts and a metal fabricator for lifting roof, Gore-tex-type material and a sewer for the tent, an upholsterer for the cushions and mattress, a body shop for the paint and...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

A Report on My Work with Red Cannon Expedition As promised, multiple times, an update on the project . . . On May 20 of last year, Bill Swails, my friend and the founder of EarthRoamer, sent me an e-mail introducing me to Dion Kranz, “a very knowledgeable, skilled and a hard worker (who) I...

Jon Speed Travel Van .... Mercedes T2 / Vario 814

Yep, the Varios can be substantially larger and more heavy duty. Some have 16,5000 pound GVWRs, two-and-a-half tons more than the 3500 Sprinters and near double the rating of the SRW 2500 cargos.

Jon Speed Travel Van .... Mercedes T2 / Vario 814

By consulting my at-the-ready copy of Travel Vans, I can report that the bed mattress is 75" x 55" x 6". According to the plan drawings, his Vario has 2140 cm (84.25 inches) between the walls at the widest point.

Jon Speed Travel Van .... Mercedes T2 / Vario 814

I think several of us were waiting for that, as Tad did a great job of sharing information with us when the rig was trapped in Reno. Thanks for sharing all the photos. I enjoyed seeing the van once again.

    Toyota Sienna lift

I don't even own a Sienna and probably never will, but I still want to see what you've done. It'll be great if you've found a good way to make the Sienna into a credible overlander, since it has a huge number of positives about it. Thanks in advance. :clapsmile

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

Don't you just hate it when somebody tells you they're going to do something and then they don't? It's like you can't count on anyone these days. Next week. Really. For schnitzel my pretzel.

Seitz windows - North American dealer?

That's the key point. The amount of condensation in the mornings on my current Sprinter's single pane RV type windows is sometime epic; there was never condensation on the dual-paned Seitz windows in my first Sprinter. Victorian . . . thanks for checking this out on our behalf. I hope you can...

    New MB Van Converter

Not exactly a new converter. They've been around for a few years and have dozens of conversions to their name. It's a good website for prospective builders to look over.

Barn Door for JK factory hardtops

The amount of useful information in this thread is huge, Jeff, and I appreciate all the time and energy you put into it. And the recommendation of a specific sewing machine was just what I needed. If it's good enough for Jeff, etc. . . . Thanks.

Lite weight campers & RVs. Consumers/customers need to push manufacturers....

It would appear that our desire for small, light RVs could be met by moving to another country. ;-) http://www.gizmag.com/2016-japan-camping-car-show/41852/ 83 photos of (mostly) tiny little campers. Worth your time if you're a builder looking for ideas. ------- (Have a good trip, Squeezer.)

    Ikea Cabinets in a Sprinter

Now, with that said, I have to admit that the advantage of the Ikea cabinets over building from plywood is much less in a Sprinter than it would be in a squared off box. The Sprinter walls aren't straight, and the curve is VERY pronounced toward the top. Since the ikea products almost always...

    Ikea Cabinets in a Sprinter

I agree with Victorian . . . done with proper reinforcement and mounting, the Ikea cabinets are worth a try. I've tested out a few temporarily, and I'm going to use them extensively in one of my builds some day, as I'm convinced that adding glue and additional screws will add sufficient...
