Sharp eye, but missed the details here:
" Here's a PDF with more technical info on the camper and modifications https://www.dropbox.com/s/dv3agvzrgh...t%201.pdf?dl=0"
Still, for 23k, someone should bullet point that out here, and add some pictures... Always need more pics.
Yeah, that's a great combo. Guess I hadn't thought much about broncos with a pass-through, but it makes a lot of sense. Also like the ability of the Bronco to haul a lot more weight than a Toy pickup.
Nice looking rig. I like my minimod, but I sometimes think about what a 4x4 pickup-based ambo would be like for a ski vehicle. That rig would probably sell super-quick out here in the PNW. GLWS!
^^Good info. Yeah, it's the massive weight of these things that scares me. I've had some "interesting" experiences driving in the snow in FWD import cars. I'm glad I wasn't sliding downhill, backwards, & sideways, on a city street with parked cars, in my ambo...
BB did you need chains on all 4 wheels? I've wondered how my Ambo would do in the snow, but didn't dare take it out of the driveway the last time we had a big snow/ice storm. I've got the BFG AT KO2s and a D70 limited slip, but haven't tested it out.
First drive in the woods with my ambo, I pulled over to make way for a sheriffs vehicle. It was night, and I didn't realize I'd slowly eased into a fairly large tree branch above the roof... Fortunately all it did was put a smudge on the rounded corner of the aluminum box. Good thing that...
It could look real good to rivet/glue on a 6"-8" strip of sheet metal, or diamond plate, the length of the lower box. That could hide the crease and help protect it from any woodland adventures...
Unplugged for thanksgiving and seems I missed a little mix up... Links are always welcome here, but I like taking the minute to post a pic and some info so that it'll outlive the CL post and maybe add some search value.
And, of course; "Pics or it didn't happen"...
Awesome indeed! Seems they're trying to upgrade their E-series shuttle bus fleet to meet emissions and noise requirements, and have less maintenance than mattracks.
I think I'd want a ride in the old school, back-track front-ski Bombardier, though.
That St. Augustine CL van is interesting: "4x4 conversion was done in mid 90s they put the Vans body on top of a 1993 Ford F350 extended bed. "
I didn't realize you could swap the van onto the pickup that easily...
