Cool box truck, should be a fun platform to build on. Did you figure out your rear axle ratio from the tag code?
Nice van, too. Is that 2WD with a lift?
Big thanks TO tmo4260 for those fasteners! This is why Ambo owners need to keep/hoard the fittings in their Ambo! Not sure quite what these are, (weld nuts?) but they fit the aluminum channel Horton used.
There are a lot of vents and aftermarket antenna(?) attachments on that Albuquerque club wagon. Plus it's from Sandia Labs. Maybe they were using it for some kind of work?
I'd take some pics of my compartments, but the ambo is tight up against the fence in my driveway. My battery box is half the height, and the door hinges forward. It'd make a great kitchen if it didn't have a ton of electronics in it...
I wish it was built like yours though. Not sure why they...
The spare mounts in the 02 cabinet, it kind of rolls in and up to a wedge/stop. Then there's a small L-bracket that slides on an angled C-channel to snug up and hold the tire in place. Not sure if your tire will fit? I can post a pic of the setup.
The "narcotics cabinet" and electrical cabinet...
Ha, got me there Coach!
I've started using that stretcher slot for hauling things, so that extra piece of foam now goes "behind the couch" between the folded up bed and the ambo wall. I can also store it below the bench, in the long compartment there. In pic#3, those two pieces of plywood hinge...
WOW, thanks for those pics, that really opens things up! It's a squeeze going through the little doorway as is right now. And the swivel seat really makes it nice.
Guess the best spot for the sink/stove would be to the drivers side of that pass. seat. Or some kind of slim/fold down thing on the...
I like my bi-fold setup. Works as a couch, or as a bed for one or two. Bonus is that I can convert while still inside the van if it's raining or snowing out (been there). This also leaves the center aisle clear for cargo, bikes, etc.
Simple and effective is sometimes what the time schedule calls for! Someday I'll take that cabinet and wall out. Do you have any pics up of your interior and that area? I've thought of some kind of fold down heavy duty brackets for a cooking/area there someday. Would be cool to see what I'm up...
Here are some pics of the sink I added into the cabinet area by the door:
I cutout some plywood for the "counter" and bolted it into angle brackets that bolt into channels in the cabinet. This small sink needs the counter to be 3/4" minimum. I used 1/2" as it's all I had around. I'll likely go...
I need something basic for my '97 E350. I've got old school "quick N easy" clamp towers on my Land Cruiser. I'd like something simple on the van. I may just get some old Thule/Yakima towers/racks off local CL or something.
This Proline kit looks real good for 4 towers/2 bars for $60...
Finboy, what's the cost on that? 4wd?
My '97 had 170k and 7000hours, mileage to hours ratio can vary a lot. I forget the number of miles the factory quotes an hour of idling is equivalent to. 20-30?
