Wow, what a first campsite, even if it was raining and buggy. One thing I can say is, we always remember the trips that don't go quite as planned. The perfect ones just seem to blur together. You and your family will remember this one for a while and laugh later.

I like them, they are much better than the cheaper versions, I think of them as the modern day pump shotgun. You put that dot on a bad guy and they know what it is, Great deterent!!
Disconnects made a big difference on my Wrangler as far as traction and ride when off roading. Even fire roads and less traveled roads have some challenging areas which could benefit from disconneting.
Funny, we did see a few, scared the heck out of the wife (front of the canoe) when I paddled her right up close to one, it thrashed in the water and took off.
