My 2005 5-speed seems to have done a little better than most. On a 65 mph freeway cruise, 16s were common, and if you're going steady on a two-lane at 55, I got in the 17s. In no case, though, did I ever push 400 miles of range. 350 on a tank was a good and prudent result.
My 2000 4-speed was...
I think these would work well in a camper where you made your rectilinear box to your own specifications and could optimize it for this sort of cabinet. I've been trying for years, though, to get something like the Moduline cabinets to work in a van and it's just too hard to work with the fixed...
I should havee mentioned that when you take off the stock running boards, you may want to consider these sliders from MetalTech:
They have a version for the LX. Be careful about to check whether other Hundy sliders will actually fit an LX. LXs have components for the AHC right where it'd be...
One of the great things about the 100s is that they came stock with big tires, so while a modest increase in diameter is useful, getting the compromise you want in tread pattern is more important.
One advantage to your older truck is that it'll have 16 inch wheels, rather than the 18s of later...
Thanks for the help, and irony, since I'd known of the HepVo Waterless Trap for a while and actually had the information sitting on my desk to order one up when Paul posted the pictures of the p-trap he built himself.
For anyone interested in what we're talking about, there's a video here...
The miles would not scare me if there was a demonstrable service record. To the extent that the vehicle was serviced at Lexus dealers, the entire history will be accessible to any Lexus service writer by typing in the VIN. I wouldn't be too enthusiastic about an LX470 that hasn't been serviced...
DUH.
Yep, that would be important, wouldn't it, since it never got shown in any of the other posts. Here goes . . . (though please excuse the zany white balance; didn't seem worth fixing for the purpose) . . .
This is what the sofa/mattress cushion (removed for clarity) rests on:
But when...
Loose in the real world . . .
It stopped raining for a while so, as Latin-speakers say, carpe photos.
My now-less-temporary Sprinter conversion is done, so for those who don't need the detail available from reading all of Paul Jensen's posts, here are enough pictures to show off what there is...
Although the situation is different in the rest of the world, the Fuso FG is, and has been, the only low cab forward truck imported into North America that has four-wheel drive. That is the principal reason you find much more about it than the other LCF trucks. There are some military trucks you...
The Helio is the key to having a shower in our new Sprinter conversion (http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/121227).
The easy part is that we have a hot water heater, so it'll be a simple matter to fill the Helio from the kitchen faucet to have warm water. Another good thing is that I...
I've been listening to the "they're overpriced" complaint for multiple decades now, and I have decided that perhaps the biggest problem is that the people complaining have never run a business. Thus, when they do their calculations of what an overland truck should cost, they undervalue, or...
You're welcome, and I am pleased to have been of some help. I can't say that it'll be as valuable for everyone, but for a sufficiently porky truck powered by the not-so-mighty 3.8 liter, the ability to run on premium has been a real benefit.
