    Cannibalizing Older RV/Sprinter Donor Conversion

Also keep in mind the curvature of the Sprinter's walls, especially toward the top of the van. In a Sprinter, no part of the sides walls is perfectly perpendicular, so cabinets designed to a Class C "box" will be problematic. Careful fitting to the wall will be possible for base cabinets, but...

    1979 416 with camper

I can't figure it out from the pictures. You're right, Bob, that it looks too tall inside to have portals, but you can't tell otherwise. And I can't figure out why the wheel wheels are not very high but are unusually wide, unless to clear the portal setup. Color me perplexed. If it is a...

    1979 416 with camper

A only-slightly informed guess from me as well, but I'd be a little stronger than $20K. A good 416 by itself could easily be worth that, and the box, if it is big enough for your use, is well-mated to the truck. Points off for rear- instead of side- entry, and for what look to be the cheapest...

Honda VFR800 "adventure" bike...now even more ridiculous than ever!

Nice work, nice writeup, and a nicely-adventureous concept. My kind of ride. Let me know if it ever goes up for sale. :sombrero:

    230V 50Hz to 120V 60Hz

In CamperMog, which was a Netherlands truck, we got by with changing the shorepower inlet plug, changing the battery charger to 110V, and using REI-sourced adapter plugs for all of the outlets. The problem you face is that for any given wattage, 230 volt wiring only carries half the current, so...

Anyone actually install mini split heat pump on camper?

I've been trying to figure this out for years and I'm not sure it can be done without the potential for a total fail. As pointed out, the units aren't necessarily made to be bounced around, and the precharged linesets that these units require aren't likely to be what's needed for any given...

    New JK - Duratrac Question

That exactly matches my opinion. Given their good traction performance, they handle very well on pavement and a surprisingly quiet.

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

Big Brake Kit Installation on the XV-JP It's been a while since I've done much work on the XV-JP, mostly because there's not too much left I can think of to change/improve. But I did just invest the money to put on the Teraflex Big Brake Kit, so I can tell you about that. Basically, Teraflex...

    Unimog u1300

The lack of a turbo may or may not be important, depending on the altitudes you intend to operate at. A naturally-aspirated engine will lose 3% of its horsepower for each 1000 foot increase in altitude. If you'll be staying near sea level, no worries. But if you operate frequently above 5000...

That's correct, according to what Mercedes has told the dealers. No four-cylinder, and thus no seven-speed transmission, for the 4WD version.

    Landcruiser 100 series AVS/AHC experience/opinions

As mentioned, tons of stuff on MUD. Take some of it with a grain of salt. Is it as good as you can do for an off-pavement truck? No. Is it pretty cool when you need a single vehicle to serve as freeway cruiser, blue highway runner, in-town daily driver AND off-pavement truck. Yeah, it is...

AT IT AGAIN: Paul and Mike Convert a Mid/Tall T1N Sprinter Cargo

It's there, kinda . . . The 2003 Sprinter Camper. Of course, that's what I put in when it was an empty metal box with a cot and camp chairs, so you're right in thinking something more descriptive would be a bit more informative. I'll get on that. ;)

AT IT AGAIN: Paul and Mike Convert a Mid/Tall T1N Sprinter Cargo

Thanks for the kind words. The sleeping platform seems to hold tight with the friction from the yoga mat on the bottom. That seems too good to be true, and there are contingency plans, but in the initial testing, it seems to work just resting it in place.
