Attaching an Aluminum Camper box to Aluminum frame....

And use nylock nuts with big washers to spread the load. You wont be able to torque the nuts very hard because it will crush the tubing. I'm not sure how much the VHB tape will add since you have relatively small contact points.

    I'm TIRED of this sit!

I've got a chair quiver because I like chillaxing. I'll find room for a zero gravity when I'm going to do a big hike or long bike ride or something. (max comfort) Rei Co-op Camp Low Chair for short range car camp trips, around the yard, at the beach, etc. (good comfort) $20 Helinox amazon...

Are pop-up campers more popular than hard-side purely due to how they look when mounted on a truck?

Makes sense although I'm not sure a more appropriate forum exists. I appreciate the concentration of people here that are willing the nerd out on these topics.

Are pop-up campers more popular than hard-side purely due to how they look when mounted on a truck?

Thanks for your well thought out reply. I would never argue against anything you are saying and you clearly have a specific use case. This thread was really intended to try and understand the overall market trend and popularity of popups. Why 4wheel camper is outselling almost everything else...

Are pop-up campers more popular than hard-side purely due to how they look when mounted on a truck?

I guess I'm saying it's more than looks. It appeals to us on a core level as a result of several generations of people associating tents with adventure and being outdoors.

Are pop-up campers more popular than hard-side purely due to how they look when mounted on a truck?

I added a little more to the first post to slick up this thread a little. It seems that there isn't a huge difference in MPG's if any between Hard-side and popup. Lift, tires, weight, vehicle and speed are equally contributing factors. Height for off-road seems to be a real thing but off-road is...

    Spacekap Diablo 6 Build

I was avoiding being specific but I will share my experience with quality. There were build / quality issues with both units that I think could be variable depending on the particular assembler / builder and quality inspection personnel that I will skip the details of but an example is a door...

Dexter Axle Easy Grease Trailer Hub and Drum Assembly Pre Greased 8-201 Not under warranty unless installed on a Dexter Axel spindle Buyer beware

Is Timbren supplying Dexter hubs with their spindles or did the trailer manufacturer spec the Dexter parts? Either way, the warrantee buck should fall on the trailer manufacturer unless they ordered preassembled spindles and hubs from Timbren. If there had been a fatality who would have been...

Camper Vans with 4 Real Seats and Sleeps 4

A truck with slide in camper offers the features you describe but wouldn't have a pass through. Over cab is usually comfortable for 2 adults. The dinette usually converts to a bed that will fit 2 kids.

Thoughts on the Truckhouse Tacoma expedition camper...

The wealth that people have to throw down on one of these must be immense. My thought was that the owners of the company already had prospective clients in their social circles and it's not a typical business relationship.

    Spacekap Diablo 6 Build

Spacekaps are around 10k. The killer is shipping and depends where you live and current rate. I paid 4k for shipping to the PNW. 3 shells will fit on one truck so if you order more, the shipping cost / each is lower.

    Picking a Wheelbase

If your going for something like this OEV setup, they went with 84". So maybe that is the ticket. https://overlandex.com/summit-opt2/

    Picking a Wheelbase

You wouldn't get a sense of dynamics with a box but you would get a good feel for turning radius and general maneuverability.

    Heat Recovery Ventilators

Thinking about how the system applies to your environmental conditions and that the condensation drain may tend to freeze up if the port is outside of the heated envelope. Would it make sense to run the drain on the inside into a container or grey water tank? A random alternate thought about a...

    Picking a Wheelbase

When you say tail swing are you talking about an un stable condition going down the highway or a dimensional clearance thing when turning?
