the weight is a correlation, not the cause and effect you think it is. look up the definitions on the internet, it'll help you to converse. heres some help, https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Alloy , dont worry, i reviewed it, its good. i thought you were done?

at any rate.... lets talk 2fe and GM 6.5 td. some considerations. a 3 fe is 155 hp, whereas a 2f 135. with displacement and compression, lets guess the 2fe at 165/230. while thats not an insignificant increase in number, and great for a 40 (i think i will do this for my 40 to keep it all...

thats why chevy and ford upgraded the low revving straight 6's to 7 main bearings. .. its force that bends metal. while it will happen at high rpms, as there is more force, it will happen at low rpm also, if the pistons are producing force. ever see a low revving diesel 6 with 5 main bearings...

    Dilemma deciding what to get

the 98 and 99's have the 2 pinion front. since a regear for 35's would always be on my list, id sooner go for the 2003+ for all the mid model updates. i see the rear locker as a red herring, serving only to distract from the desired end result and falsely inflating the price with the word "locker".

Reliability Toyota --- Coming from a Land Rover Owner

i did mine at 160 and it looked fine... but thats the problem. everyone does that, and says this, like its a rubber fan belt and, and you get cracks half way thru 5000 miles before it fails. it isnt. you dont. its an interference motor. i know you have the mechanical aptitude, so change it. if...

Reliability Toyota --- Coming from a Land Rover Owner

6!?!?!? the part that always amazed me, is how long it takes MB to react when theres clearly a design flaw. those frigging window regulators are 700 from the dealer. a simple move to metal wheels would have prevented them from eating themselves. i think they are still selling that plastic crap...

Reliability Toyota --- Coming from a Land Rover Owner

ive owned and run LC's, G's, and a defender. i gravitate back to the LC every time. its not the most capable out of the box. (defender, RRC) its not the best looking out of the box. (defender) its not the best built out of the box. (G) its not the best beast of burden out of the box. (G) its...

Land Cruiser 105 series ... road trips, 4wheeling

id love to squirrel one of these into the US. you cant buy this package configuration in anything sold here, LC or other. thats the way an overlander ought to be drawn. i think id install power windows and heated seats tho.

    Dilemma deciding what to get

dont kid yourself, and old LC isnt a maintenance free proposition either. id get the best truck you can afford regardless of brand, that having been said, you like these two. the disco out of the box will walk all over that 80 out of the box. highway, and offroad. there are tons of goodies...

the old f150 6ft bed standard cab guys used to be all about maximizing mpg. even factoring the lie factor they were seeing mid 20's. its just a neat motor. anyone that loves a 2f style response, but would like another 40 horses and something as smooth as a 6 is supposed to be, would like that...

woof woof. what was it designed for? using too much fuel to produce too little power in return? it has a heavy flywheel which isnt tq production. it stores energy that you feel while the motor is lugging down low. unfortunately, this enegry input/use cycle repeats itself every single time you...

i have one. too expensive of a swap for this and an LS will outperform it. the drivetrain is in. as far as i know the manual for a 2uzfe is an r151, and i have a chevy to H bell housing handy too. a LC 4.7 is one quiet motor though. if i was going to go thru the hassle of something "different"...

ive owned plenty of 2f's. JimC'ed to webbered. anything you can do with a 2f, i can do better with a chevy product. the dry weight is done with this truck. no more add on's. a well tuned, cammed, headdered 2f, may see 150 to the rear wheels. may. and im not convinced the flimsy bottom end can...

maybe. i had a 60 for years as a DD but i never bothered locking it, or fitting it out. what do i recalled liking? the box shape made it easy to locate the corners, and it had great visibility. the payload was square and the two piece fold up seas did a good job of being versatile, if cargo...

    1. loco is correct about "insecurities". the odd part about insecurities, is, admitting you have them is in and of itself a weakness people are afraid to admit. he never said anything about whether or not the insecurities had an actual basis or were persevered, so the correct response for those...

    WTB: 80s G-WAGON

theres no reason to not give the motor a tune up, if thats all it needs. it needs body and engine work. id offer 5g if looking for a waste of time and money. what size tires are you looking to spin, btw? that matters in a G.
