It is admittedly a little odd, since whomever is in the back is pretty much trapped there. On the other hand, there's nowhere that person would be going. That position is only used when there are two people, so another person is always available to fetch or do anything in the front two thirds of...
And some more . . .
This part's a little odd, but since it's working pretty well, I'll share it. Your mileage may vary.
In the original plan, when it was time to dine, we moved the keyboard stand table up to the front and sat on the sofa. That was OK for eating, though a bit of a pain to get...
Continuing on . . .
Originally, there was a table that was made out of an adjustable keyboard stand holding up a plywood top. That worked OK, but it was relatively easy to make a similarly-sized table out of the 3/4" plywood also used for the bed platform, and doing so provided the opportunity...
Time for an Update . . .
First off, the truck is running great. The ride is great, the handling good, the power more than adequate, the fuel economy really good, etc. I still intend to do a fancy conversion on a 2014, but it's not the slam dunk it was two months ago. Nothing about using this...
I find that to be true, too. Do not use it anywhere you might ever want to undo the attachment. Not only do you have to destroy the surface material, but the adhesive residue is one of the toughest to remove that I've ever run into, with none of the usual solvents having much effect...
Good heavens.:Wow1:
I enjoyed seeing that, though my wrist would fall off from shaking that many rattle cans. The benefits of the stealthy aspects of the current setup are growing on me, though.
The cot got changed to the 3/4 inch plywood equivalent I put in the same space (pictures soon). So one person sleeps in palatial comfort on the 5" mattress/cushion. A second person can, using the semi-palatial Exped Megamat I carry, sleep either in the sliding door area (if you know them well)...
Wow . . . color me lame for having let this thread sit for two months. :(
The only defense is that I've been out a lot in this truck, and have also been doing some minor changes, though I haven't yet lost the ability to use the truck for hauling. It worked well to take the Icon Designs Ural...
That's an excellent point. The high roof T1N Sprinters aren't all that tall for lanky Americans. With just the factory load floor, a six-footer will brush the ceiling ribs. Of course, the stock high roof is already tall at about 9 feet, so with that conversion, occasional height issues will be...
It's pitiful that I know enough about portable toilets to offer an expert opinion, but I strongly suggest that if you can find enough room for the Thetford Curve, you do so. It is a substantial upgrade over previous units. It has many good points, such as a quick but effective electric flush...
Not to hijack Paul's build thread, but . . .
This "a good job requires soldering" advice is all over this forum, but it's worth noting that some codes, for example, the ABYC (American Boat and Yacht Council) Standards, do not allow soldering as the sole means of connecting wires. When subjected...
I agree. The fully charged battery will be between 12.6 and 12.8 volts. You can get a good reading on this only after the battery has lost its "surface charge," which is an unevenness in the concentration of the electrolyte. To remove the surface charge, let it sit for at least four hours to...
Hey, Corey . . . so, I'm posting because I'm worried Brett can't really tell you the answer is to ignore the grounding stake. I suspect that there is a REALLY small chance that events could make the ArkPak unsafe without the grounding stake, but I can attest that it's got nothing to do with the...
Nice catch, Trev.
So, assuming the cat is now officially out of the bag, presenting, TA-DAH, the soon-to-be Motofish CoffeeMog:
The truck will, as best I understand the plan after hearing it third-hand, serve coffee, etc. at events in the Seattle area.
I've got mixed feelings about this, as...
Hey, Paul: Are you going to use the factory plastic panels and, if so, are you thinking of painting or covering them? Which is really meant to ask, if someone wants to cover their cargo Sprinter's walls, should they make their own pieces from scratch out of cardboard, luan, 1/8" ply or similar...
