When shopping for used, how much does a rebuilt engine and trans add to the value?

Nothing. Cars generally should always have working engines and trans. Lolz. Rebuild shops aren't always good. The timing chain and tensioners could still be old.

Buy new F350 or restore older 7.3?

Torque convertor. Get a nice one if the trans gets rebuilt. They weren't very high end back then.

For those that carry Guns and Overlanding

Only landowners were allowed to vote. Not women, not illegal immigrants, not dead bodies, not a flower pot named ''Burt''. They knew all about idiots. It's why frontier life was hard. Not weather or wilderness, but idiots. We're messing up, by letting welfare dependents, and invalids...

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

Can just back the truck up to the rear hatch of a Pruis, and then just run it over with the bike.

    Considering a F550 with singles

I'd just do custom rear leaf springs and bank the savings.

EXD 350 - EarthCruiser on flat bed

My work F350 is overloaded at 11 000# currently. The 6.2l is fine. Selecting proper axle ratios for your tire size becomes more important, that's all. Reading 8' utility box with topper and top shelfs, filled with tools and cargo.

Buy new F350 or restore older 7.3?

And front ball joints. Grease the hubs. Shocks. Steering damper. Your next brake job, budget for entire loaded calipers. Engine has plenty of power, just maintain it. Budget for a trans rebuild and improved TC. Cam crank sensor? Or is that just the newer ones? If it's like the...

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

Why don't promo pics ever include ramps? You'd be amazed how cumbersome it is, strapping a 12' ramp upright. I might like it better than the Ranger if sleeves are still available for the Dana 44's. Solid axles always win in my AO.

New Jeep Pick Up to be unveiled...The Gladiator

Yeah, I'm absolutely thrilled about that. We can use those axles fine enough. Yukon grizz the front, zip the rear. Looks like this could be our version of the Aussie trucks.

    Opinions on truck/camper needed.

I'm going a similar route with a Capris 6.5' retreat. Difference between short and long bed is the size of the dinette, one less cushion. Size of the bunk bed over the dinette, kid only, unless you're just using it for storage space. And size of the left rear closet. Very light camper...

Crisis in our national parks: how tourists are loving nature to death

That's all overlanding is to me anymore. I don't have to drive through a jungle, just drive a few more miles off road than everyone else to find a spot to myself.

Pretty much that. OEM tires only last 30 000 miles anyways.

Ram 3500- 68RFE or Aisin, help me build!

What's up with the chassis cab idea? Was that for a large expo box or something? 173" WB isn't terrible. I'm at 160 something, and decided I didn't need a LB, but I do need a CC. Don't sweat the derate on the chassis cab trucks. Make up for it by choosing the largest gear ratios...

Chevrolet offering serious off-road performance parts for the ZR2 in 2019, never seen this kind of OEM support

GM had the option to make me a rich man, I moved on to fixing emergency generators instead. It doesn't pay enough to work on such un-serviceable vehicles. Unless you get specialized into some sort of tech, that they're desperate to have, it's a tough job. Heavy diesel trucks are easier...

Chevrolet offering serious off-road performance parts for the ZR2 in 2019, never seen this kind of OEM support

Common enough. The real problem wasn't the rare mechanical issue (assuming nobody has damaged hearing from the airbags). I think Nissan had a similar issue. The real problem was GM denying warranty coverage for as long as they did. This could have been solved in 2 days. The owner put in a...

    JDay's 2018 F250 Powerstroke Build

How much was that? I like the angled lights, if they light up tight corners. Hardly looks like a winch even fits in there. Nice and tight. Can't you just loosen it, kick it, tighten it back up?

    2019 Ford Ranger Taking Orders

Because auto 4wd or AWD isn't needed once you have the proper tires. Even with my excessively stiff rear suspension, and well over inflated tires, I have no problems in the snow belt. I'm strongly against the auto 4wd, once I saw how it operated. I've got no problem with true AWD, but would...
