To Drawers or not to Drawers

ive been thinking no drawers, but a sliding platform may be the ticket if you have a tailgate/hatch as opposed to doors.

What is the greatest overland vehicle ever sold new in the US?

people are emotionally attached, and i think that clouds their judgement on cars. also, theres this compulsion to be "right" that clouds everyday judgement. dont get me wrong, i love cool and unusual ****, and i may get attached to a particular car, but not a brand in general. that having...

    100-series rear bumper options

the BIO bumper uses bearing sets that cross with m416 axle hubs, i believe. its as smooth as silk. that having been said, ive owned brass bushing and roller bearing styles, and i kinda like the slight stiffness of the brass bearing, and the idiot proof maintenance. also, the spring pin on the...

    100-series rear bumper options

yea, its like that with all bumper systems. but its the USA and there are stations everywhere. i didnt have an issue 2 weeks out west using an f350 with a 460 slurping fuel. so, on the 100, i'll just use 1 jerry with a 40 buck smittybuilt bracket bolted behind the RTT. i'll dump it in the tank...

    100-series rear bumper options

bio is the value option, and he'll customize to your liking. i have him put a rear winch cradle on mine, and 8 people ive extracted with it, thank him. the bumper itself is 10x as ridged as the cross member. removing it is in no way an issue.

91 LC: Are they really this slow?

youre right. a tractor does not merge on a highway, because its mode of operation is torque multiplication thru low gearing. a tractor can get away with small a small short power band. an fj80 on the other hand, has to work on road too. 3fe + the 4speed auto ='s a lack of proper gearing or...

91 LC: Are they really this slow?

I wouldn't touch a 3fe with redrums..... whatever. It's a dog. The idea of calling it a strong tractor motor is odd. If it was strong, you wouldnt feel like u were gonna die merging . It's just a 160hp crappy mpg boat anchor in far too heavy a truck. For 12mpg, you can get twice the hp...

Toyota guy looking at making a switch to a LR

You're not permitted to do that. You can't start with English and switch to metric. That's an iso9001 violation. This website will be burried in usless paperwork to clear that database mess. t's either in stones or pounds now mother****er

My Cruiser needs a new motor does this cost seem outta line? Consider SFBay area.

You're about to sink 13.5 into a truck worth 8. You need your head examined. If the motor on my lx470 goes tomorrow, I rip all the add ons off, part it, and buy a new one to move the **** to. It's not worth putting 13.5 into a 100 motor let alone an 80.

owned. fj55 fj60 fj40 lc100 gwagon 110nas f-pickups get a 100 if its about the adventure, and not what people see you drive. easy to mod, will do what you want on trails, great on road, reliable inside and out. while an early disco is a defender done right.. or righter... if its about looks...

    Tyre presssures over rocks??

ive had 2 sidewall punctures on duratrack load e 285 75 r16's. one was a pinch flat and one was a cut. pressure was the same as bfg at's i ran for years. i think the sidewalls are less resistant to cuts. merely anecdotal, but im not using them anymore.

    great tire size debate

i dunnknow. ive never driven those, but they may have enough siping. ive found that a tire that packs and floats on top, with siping to get grip without digging in like a true mud tore would, works best. when new, my duratracks stuck like glue to snow, and they are as wide as that.

    UZJ100 longevity???

its the gear spacing that counts. the 4speed is a poor match to HP curve of the early 4.7's. 2-3 has always been crappy on steep grades at moderate speeds, and stays that way with larger tires. with a load, i find myself accelerating thru it and having to cruise at a faster speed than the curves...
