Hi we are interested. We are near Ottawa Canada. We sold or Mercedes 917AF a few years ago and are considering something smaller. Unfortunately price may be a sticking point. Good luck with the sale, keep us informed.
Cheers, Joe

Our MB917 has 3 radiators and a 20l hw calorifier in the camper. connected directly to the engine loop. Shut off valve on one side of the loop with a Webasto heater on the camper side. The system has run without issue for30 years. (Webasto replaced once and calorifier replaced once). The Webasto...
I know the car you want to bring, and it would be a blast, but so would a BMW M or a Porsche either of which you could buy and resell for less than the container shipping.
No. they are two separate "banks" although there is only one battery in each bank. When they are not being charged the house bank is being drawn down while the starter is untouched.
Two years is not very long. How much you use the system determines how robust it needs to be. A weekend warrior...
Matching your batteries will do nothing to extend their life. You only match batteries when they are part of the same bank. You have a starter battery and a house battery. Your house battery should be deep cycle for long life, a starter battery will not stand up to long slow deep discharges as...
It is not the charging that will damage the trailer battery (although you will have to address the voltage drop)
Using a starter battery as a house battery, depleting it and not immediately recharging it will shorten it's life dramatically. Get a true deep cycle for the trailer, a pair of 6V...
A charge controller set to the correct voltage profile will not cook batteries.
While using the same battery in the trailer and as a starter might seem like a good idea, you have two opposite battery needs, starter and deep cycle. No matter what the salesman says there is no lead acid battery...
Our MB 917AF had a GVW of 9400kg. The most restrictive thing about the truck was height. White rim was not accessible because of rock overhangs in a few spots. We crossed some pretty dicey wood bridges in south America but only after being assured by locals that heavier vehicles used the same...
Although this might seem like a good idea, I think it's a bad one. Trickle charging a starter battery can disguise a battery not holding it's charge. When a battery goes bad it usually gives warning with slow cranks.
No I'm talking Mercedes truck, Your looking for MB 1017AF for example the first two digits are the chassis GVW in 1000kgs and the second pair are engine hp rating in 10's of hp. The A is all wheel drive(full time 4X4) the F is a firetruck designation.
Look for chassis weight between 9 and 18...
I think you are looking for a unicorn.
The 100k budget means used.
Stop looking at unimogs, the only Mog that fits your needs is the U500 and for 100k you will be lucky to find a bare chassis. Your choices boil down to a domestic HD PU or a MB or Man import. The two German imports are far better...
