    Bantam trailer build thread!

Just as something to consider...a few years ago I got a similar deal on a '46 Bantam. I tow it behind my JK also. After all was said and done...I just painted it to match my Jeep (white body, black fenders) and got new tires, tubes, and redid the wiring. I have a vinyl cover with some...

    1979 Bluebird Wanderlodge for sale

Our family has enjoyed our '85 FC Wanderlodge for over 12 years...and about 75k miles. Built "back in the day" with the best of materials and design...and built like a tank. As I recall our 33' is 28k pounds of rolling steel and not a staple or bit of particleboard to be found inside. We...

Do you feel the need to have a weapon when camping

Yes...the risk exposure is low camping...but if faced with any reasonably foreseeable problem (flat tire, poor water, rain)...I like to be prepared and have options. Is being targeted and victimized a possibility...it is. Here is an example why...

New to bikes and know nothing.

2x getting a modern 200-250cc Japanese thumper (single cylinder) enduro style (good ground clearance, good suspension range, aggressive tires). I have a DR200 now and love it. It will go 55mph all day. Carry 2 persons if needed. Good size tank/range. Nice aftermarket rear racks available...

School me on 1982 Honda CT110

Fluffy...I agree...this is a wise observation: "When you get remote in your truck THEN head off on one of these bikes you can get very very remote so survival gear is advised. They extend your range so much - it's just too easy to explore a very sketchy track nobody would think of to look for...

    KLR on a Hitch carrier

I have a KLR (and some lighter bikes) that I carry on the rear of my '95 Chev Silverado frequently. You need the proper platform for the rack...and I'm thinking you got that with the F-350 with a good hitch and rear suspension rating. Then you need a strong carrier. I scored mine used off...

School me on 1982 Honda CT110

Get it home and enjoy it... Clymers makes a nice manual for the CT series bikes...it can guide you well for a lot of work. A nice forum for wisdom: http://lilhonda.com/webboard/forum.php A great parts source: http://www.dratv.com/info.html Have fun! And lock it whenever you park it.

    The one that got away.

That price for a floor panel is sweet...and I need one for my Bantam. I'll check back for photos, etc.

    Primitive Virginia, With Fire.

Try GWNF in the area of Fort Valley. Do a google map and search for Chrisman Hollow Road near Luray, VA...this is a gravel forest road with many small pull offs suitable for camping or just parking and walking "in", especially the Northern end of the road. There is a spring/creek site near the...

    Show your Thumper!!

Snow killer! Well...our '72 Honda CT-90 "thinks" it's a snow killer... First day of "spring break" in No. VA.

    04' KLR for 2900??

If I was looking at used bikes, and I defined "do just about everything" as: interstate capable, forest road & off pavement great fun, and can do light/mod single track ok...and I had at least 30" of inseam... I would be hawking Craigslist, e-bay and all other local sources for: KLR650's...

New Member and Looking for opinions.

Yep...with the design aspects you describe I would also consider a canvas/vinyl tarp covering with some simple bow supports. That would give you basic storage and shelter protection. A custom sized "lumber tarp" or "box tarp" where the "box" drops over your wood supports and you have a flap at...

    Designing a Simple Water System

Simple? OK: In my old van (sad to say, gone now) I for years used a couple of these to store/carry/despense water: http://www.amazon.com/Coleman-Water-Carrier-5-Gallon-Blue/dp/B00168PI4S. Other ones are available....the key is have at least one with a spigot valve...the others can be any...

    Camper shell skylight

I have a simple aluminum cap on my truck. Here are some thoughts about forced ventilation and some other stuff: Has screened windows on rear/sides and a pass thru window in front...for a range of needs (fan, light, charge laptop/phone) I added a fused power port rigged in the back. I can...

handlebar vibration on my honda xr650 help me

Has this "vibration" changed or is it the same it has always been on this specific MC? IF this is something that has just happened...have you mounted something (GPS) to the bars? Also check your steering, wheels, etc for problems/issues. IF "always like this"...you will likely find that all...

Lets see some "set up" Regular Camper shells

I have a similar set up as to the tarp. Two adjustable awning poles and a tarp over the raised cap door works out great for shade and rain protection. Shock cord to the wheel wells for the front end and some rope/pegs for the back end. Very simple, quick to rig and effective.

    tarps for your M416

mytarps.com was also my source for a 5x7 (as I recall) heavy duty vinyl tarp. Fits very nice with no modifications on our Bantam TC-3. Held up well...on second year now. Bows are just flexed oak "door stop trim" from Home Depot, attached to 1x3 coming up out of the OEM stake holes.

Electrical related reference backup light - switch in cab, three ways in camper

I know this is a bit off from your proposed design...but offered as food for thought: Our '95 Chev P/U has a standard wire harness and within the wire bundle at the rear bumper there are wires offering "constant on" and "back up on" voltage. Most trucks with a towing option have a common...

    The 10 Year Commitment

Timely thread... I have a '95 Chevy 4x4 extended cab pickup truck with the 6.5' bed and an aluminum topper. This truck has served me for 17+ years...still love it, great for camping and forest road running. Tows boats and my utility trailer great. The topper has a rack for our canoe/kayak...

    3dogcampingusa tent is here!

Very nice tent base set up...something of a change from a "full lid". Would seem to offer a lot of flexability as far as trailer use. That tent is a prize also....seems very well made. One aspect catches my eye...the ladder seems just to lean on the platform & sit on the floor panel of the...
