Ok, speaking as a KLR rider:
I just reuse insulated shipping envelopes. These are typically reflectix type bubble wrap in silver or white. I have a couple that are about 1' wide x 2' long. They fold & weigh nearly nothing when packed empty. I fill with some ice, add food/bev, fold over top...
Very nice!! Thanks for posting the video.
I ran down to the ONF last winter from Northern VA. It was a treat to leave temp's in the teens and enjoy the Ocala NF area. My KLR did fine...except in the "sugar sand" intersections...if loaded with my gear...they were at times a struggle. If you...
Excellent!!!
I think the best "wisdom nugget" is having roll bandaging that you cut and/or wrap to fit, and tape and/or an elastic ACE bandage to secure it.
I have in the past bought or been gifted the "small commercial kits"...but when the time came I did not need most of the "single...
You found a nice one! Enjoy it, the T3-C is perfect behind a JK.
My OEM floor is pretty much shot and covered now by a wood panel. Be watching your progress with the floor replacement.
I have a '07 KLR and enjoy riding it and have no regrets...with that out of the way:
For solo riding with a reasonable load of gear I think a 650 single is the way to go. You can do interstate and any paved road and flow with the traffic which in my mind gives you a safety margin for traffic...
Nice find! I've had my Bantam for a couple of years now and it has been a blast to work on and play with.
Love your "combat wheels"! I switched my old tires out last year for some new NDT and love the look. I run with about 14# air when on light/med loads and it rides fine.
If you only need the "flat 4 trailer plug"...it is often available from most auto parts store. An example from e-bay:

A nice set up that also caught my eye on e-bay...
If you Google search the VIN shown...a couple of versions of this ad come up...the story line changes from ad to ad (new kids, investing in new business...), as well as different points of contact.
I would hope any potential serious...
I've enjoyed my Ford vans over the years...but I have to say the nice top on this one really is attractive and addresses the big issue that many of us face after a decade of "vanning"...the desire to stand up.
Very nice work and design. Good luck with the sale!
Got it rigged...thanks to all!
I got some Yakima racks from EBay that came off a similar truck. This set came with the bars, locks, mount towers and the "mounting feet" specific for the Tacoma 4 door. I also got a set of four mounting points/plates for the cap and the special clip bracket for...
When I had a similar set up my small 110vt. AC was mounted into the rear window frame...giving the AC air flow a straight unobstructed path to the interior of the van. With good insulation AND reflective bubble covers for the glass areas (velcro strip around windows provided for either placing...
I've got a chance to score a lightly used LiquidLogic VersaBoard which is a sort of a hybird sit on top/stand up board.
Makers site: http://liquidlogickayaks.com/versa.cfm
In deciding over a standard SUP AND factoring in my teen kids using it: I see the plusses as the versatility of the...
Thank you all for the ideas and photos...I checked the web and after some time...you start figuring out these rack systems and options. This type of rack is new to me and I appreciate the help.
I think a Yak or Thule system that allows placement of the "front bar" on the cab or cap depending on...
I just bought a nice used '09 Tacoma 4 door long bed with a color matched fiberglass cap. I need to get some ideas as to mounting a roof rack that would support a 16' canoe and at other times a 12' kayak. Looking at the options...I don't like the idea of a simple two bar mount on the cap as...
Very nice design and build!
It's so easy to get into the mindset "got to have x,y,z" and as a result folks end up focusing on the aspect of the "toy" and not the actual "fun". Great use of what you have to get on the road & trail NOW.
For initial simplicity...Post #9 is right on point. You might try a SealLine or Wolfman type bag that would be secured to the rack. A well made waterproof/dustproof bag of suitable (small/med) size would work on the existing rack. Eventually waterproof/dustproof & easy to mount securely...
We have an '09 Honda Element...with the AWD, we bought new.
I fully concur with the comments about ground clearance (very limited), noise (yep), honest mileage ave. is about 20MPG (you can be light and faster, or heavy and drive slower...but you will never see over 23-24MPG at best). That...
