Clip pin for locking a cap from inside...
I got around last weekend to going ahead and doing a simple latch lock for my truck cap...simple, low cost and would likely work on many types or at least give folks an idea:
I used a clip pin (tied a lanyard on it so it doesn't get dropped/lost as...

We have a White JK with black accents and went with White/Black on the trailer to match...here it is so you can see it. Used Rustolem roll/brush on in black and white high gloss. A quart of each did the top, bottom, everything. Used spray undercoating in some areas to get "in" the nooks...

I think it's so great that so many of these small & sometimes older bikes are not forgotten in a field, but kept up and used! It is so sad to see so many just left to rust/rot away.
These simple smaller bikes can be one of the best "investments" a boyfriend, husband and/or dad could ever make...
Nice find & great F.I.L.!
I came across a similar type trailer (a Bantam) and so far it has been a real joy both for the minor work (tires, sanding/painting) and also the uses (hauling, camping, loaning out to family...). They seem to be the perfect size for both towing easily and carrying...
I have a 4dr. JK...and stumbled onto a old Bantam trailer, very sim to a M416. Box is nominally 4x6. Tows like a dream...but the OEM short hitch length keeps you on your toes when backing up. I would not want any less of a box size. Think "outside the box"...beyond camping: I've used the...
I don't know if I can really give you the answer you want. Over the years I've "van camped" quite a bit, often in summer in the Southern US. But here is what I have learned...some might help you.
First, both of my Ford vans were nicely insulated. You have to beat the heat factor of direct...
Nice ride and great video! Thanks for sharing it.
As far as the get off at the end...funny how "light & easy" a 650 thumper feels...until you have to pick it up! After about 3 of those...I'm about done with my KLR for the day...especially if fighting mud and/or slope issues!
Looks like a lot of fun potential in a small package!
I have a rear hitch carrier that I use often on my RV, my full size truck and our JK Jeep. Check around for one for the hitch on your jeep (they often come up used on C)L...that small bike would fit and carry very well there!
There are so many types of truck cap window/door latches out there it's hard to answer...but I've used a small vice-grip type plyer to clamp the locking bar in place when sleeping in my truck cap. I thought about using a cotter clip and drilling a hole in the bar also to "lock it"...but the...
Nice find! If you respect the limitations of the Honda Trails (essentially speed, power & suspension) compaired to a more modern MC...then you are ready for a lifetime of fun on one! The dual range transmission is just sweet on these...you can just about out climb a billy goat on one. I had...
Less is more? 1974 Honda CT-90
I'll likely limit my travels on this little jewel to the Geo. Washington National Forest...
Another local C-list find...just too clean and fun to pass up!
Neat features:
1: Trans has two ranges. In High...speeds of 45mph. In Low...I can reach maybe 25 in...
Molle Utility Bag for the crash bars
You might like the idea of some additional storage:
I've really had good use by adding a mil. style molle bag to mine. Started with one, then added one for the other side. The molle style straps mount very securly around the SWM crashbars, look neat, add...
I have a Silverado extended cab...I wracked my brain to figure out a mount and just to get started put it behind the rear seat back on the small floor laying flat. It fits back there perfectly....no rattle/no move. The large plastic base also resides there. No cost and no hazards to passengers.
Bantam trailer "tarp bows"...a quick & easy method
I got nice black heavy tarp from "mytarp.com" based on M. Harleys big red trailer build on the site. They have great prices, quick shipping and the 5x7 stock flat tarp size fits the Bantam like a glove.
We have had some...
Thanks for the pointer to "mytarp.com"
Used "mytarp.com" to get a black tarp for my small 3/4T Bantam trailer...based on your experience. Great price, quick shipping and looks great!
I've got to stop reading your thread...too many great ideas and my trailer is not big enough for...
Here is a white trailer example behind a white JK. About a full quart of Rustolem gloss white for the body; gloss black for the frame (about 1/3 quart), and about 3 cans of spray rust restorer under side for bottom of bed, axel, springs, etc.
Since I finished up this little trailer...I've...
Yes...she is a neat old bus, was repainted with Imron in the factory colors about 10 years ago and still looks really good...always stored covered. I had a friend give me a group of tickets and parking pass for a NASCAR race once in Richmond and could have made a lot of $$$ selling tours...I'm...
I have admired quite a few trailer rigs on this site recently...and the concept of a roof top tent is a winner with me...I could easily make up a top for the little trailer and mount the RTT on it...make it removable and all.
The reality is about 20+ years ago my then pre-wife and I went...
Stage 1 complete
Progress is made: now fully road ready, legal and painted up nice I think. I still have the floor rust issues to redo...but the trailer now moves back to second stage as I found a roof leak at our house...but I guess I can haul roofing supplies in style now...the floor issues...
