    2019 Ford Ranger Payload?

Watch out and do your homework on new technology. I "dodged" a bullet by avoiding the new adaptive steering, cruise, moonroof etc. etc. Base models with carry over technology are running fine across the board.

    JK Overlanding/Spare Carrier Hood?

Since you're just running AT's, why not consider a very skinny wheel and tire for the extra spare? I can understand MT's all needing to be the same capability, but not so needed with AT type travels. I carried a rear spare, and then had a skinny spare inside, bolted high and right rear of...

    Why so few GM Builds?

Beach launching boats, is our most often use for it. And Coshacton (sp?) county washed out flooded roads in the spring, or their washed out mountain roads with sharp turns in the spring. That's where we Toyota'd a couple GM front ends, crossed up, at extension. Same thing that eats...

F250 V8 Flex Fuel 6.2 - how cold it too cold?

Should be in a freeze plug on the block: https://external-preview.redd.it/QRqgjKiv_WkJpHbZOMrTWmo85nqhjZRd5xEwSH8L20s.jpg?width=960&crop=smart&auto=webp&s=fe07a9443b6537c4f5654abee6a5bd2117a07399 On the drivers side. I'd only use it way below 0 degrees. Using it too often in warmer temps...

    Why so few GM Builds?

Depends. In my clique, with the Dodge we're -replacing the axle shafts to get rid of the front axle disconnect -adding a free spin kit -using a long arm kit, depending on year. (not really a big deal, because we replace the radius arms on the Fords which is about the same thing) -2 locker and...

F250 V8 Flex Fuel 6.2 - how cold it too cold?

Forgot to mention. Check your 6.2 for a coolant block heater. Many came with them, and only need the Oem cord added. It's the freeze plug style that I hate though. Not the nice Kh bullet style. I prefer outside the block bottle heater because they're low, so when they nuke, all the broken...

    Why so few GM Builds?

I think it means ''we don't see many modern Gmc builds''. No doubt that 1986 k20s rule. That might be my biggest beef. Make a truck like that again, with dana60's, and less rust. The last time gmc made a truck I respected, it looked liked the above. But maybe it's unfair when they paid...

F250 V8 Flex Fuel 6.2 - how cold it too cold?

0 is no problem. -25 is more worrisome. The 6.2 can idle indefinitely. Mine has as many idle hours as driving hours.

    Allignment shop for lifted van?

I'll gladly do professional alignments. Way easier than my day job. My fee is $50 an hour. That's why you can't get a quality alignment. People aren't willing to pay $127 per hour for it.

    Why so few GM Builds?

I see Dodges and Ford's with pop up and hard side campers, and 35"+ MT's, every single weekend. My (Gas) SD's maintenance is no more than a car's. Give or take the larger sized rotors, pads, and calipers. Might actually be cheaper. Any shade tree mechanic can change the shocks on a Ford...

Hello from Europe! And why is USA so (UNINFORMED/UNDER-EQUIPPED)

Ouch. I remember thinking, at a trailer factory: A $15/hr laborer isn't going to give a darn about the build quality of some yuppie sheep mobile.

New JL - Rubi vs Sport for basic Overland travel

A jeep, just isn't a jeep without lockers anymore. It's a shame the Rubi lockers aren't available in all of the models.

Can't even get a nice jeep for that.

Hello from Europe! And why is USA so (UNINFORMED/UNDER-EQUIPPED)

I wouldn't be able to afford any of this if I worked in Europe. The 9 weeks of vacation in France is nice. But not so nice if you're broke. I used to live five miles from reefs in Florida. But couldn't afford to dive them. In Ohio I can spend a week diving in Fl and another in the...

New JL - Rubi vs Sport for basic Overland travel

The Rubi has dfferent axles, 4.0 low range, and at least an extra inch of clearance. Rubi is $5k more, but you'll dump $3k into wheels/tires on the sport. I'd just get the Rubi and be done with it. No idea if the sport axles are any good, and lockable. My yj was ok with open diffs, but I...

    GovPlanet 5 ton trucks

Lolz. The 8v92ta is a PITA to work with, and Allison sucks. I farm out all of my 2 stroke DDC engine work now. I was the last generation of techs trained to service those. I wouldn't touch anything that old. That's the engine responsible for the '70-80's diesel tech boom.

    Why so few GM Builds?

Seems lefty around here to me. (as expected) In my AO, Ford's draw disproportionate sales from: -rural, or wilderness home owner areas -race car, power boat owners -powerline, pipeline, emergency service vehicles -campers -ranchers -horse chicks -people that experienced GM's 2 mile warranty...

    Expedition Vehicle selection thoughts?

Chassis cab Fords are boxed front, C channel rear frame. The F250/350 fully boxed frame is too rigid for the big trucks, and a pita to mount boxes to. People wanted stffer frames, Ford provided. I don't agree with it, but the ride is nicer. Ever see a flat bed truck split it's frame...

    Expedition Vehicle selection thoughts?

Yep, big water tanks are for newbs. Water filtration is the way to go. Any decent lake or stream will do.

Advice on purchasing a truck shell?

They make ladder racks that are topper friendly. They have flat feet that reach outside under the topper. https://www.workvanequipment.com/PROIII-Adjustable-Ladder-Rack-for-Camper-Shell-_p_26.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMI5-Kx7N363QIVi8DACh240A7iEAQYAiABEgJPh_D_BwE
