EarthRoamer website "suspended" - what's up?

Just worked fine for me at 8:11 PST on 2/10. Cue the Twilight Zone music.

The windows don't open, a hugely-disappointing situation. That situation is, I suppose, explained by the fact that if you have cargo in the back, it doesn't need fresh air, and if you do, there's a rear air conditioning option they'd like you to add for a lot of money. Indeed, most passenger...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

Jeez, John, cut me some slack, will ya? I've got a lot of pointless responsibilities to attend to on a daily basis. I'll get rid of that empty area soon enough. And, besides, what would you know about cramped spaces? Your truck has storage bins with more volume than my cabin. Hope all is well...

What is the greatest overland vehicle ever sold new in the US?

Enter a vote for the Toyota/Lexus 100 Series. This is the best overland vehicle faceoff, not best off-roader, and the Hundies offer superb comfort, plenty of power, decent range, tremendous reliability, big tire capability with the stock suspension and a workable traction setup that doesn't...

    EarthRoamer XV-JP "Northwest Edition"

Sadly, there's no opportunity to do anything along those lines. The tank is factory insulated in foam rubber, but there's no room to add any additional installation, and almost the entire length of the hot water line is buried.

As is your witty reply. Jeeez, Paul. it's not like things are that tight in the cabin. In fact, just last week I found a couple of cubic inches of open space where we failed to put anything. :sombrero:

recommendation for skinning a steel frame?

Camper Mog had an aluminum skin riveted to the steel skeleton. It was waterproof because of angled pieces at all the corners, also riveted, but goobered up with Sikaflex or similar underneath. Never leaked a drop.

Here is my 710K Pinzgauer 1974. Restoration and transformation project.

Good luck with your project. Pinzies are cool. On the small chance that you haven't seen it yet, here's a link to Daktari Ed's uber-Pinz, http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/58574 which might have systems and equipment worth your consideration. (BTW, anyone know who the Phoenix got...

The stealthy part is good, as is the security it provides. But a lot depends on the climate you'll be using the truck in. If you're in, say, Arizona, you can make the great outdoors your living space and be in the camper mostly just to sleep, cook and eat. In a place like Oregon, though, you...

Thanks for the kind words. I had seven great years with it. Thanks, too, for finding the information about Custom Spooling. Entrepreneurism abhors a vacuum, don't it? The NCV3s are inarguably the more sophisticated trucks and some (like a 2012 silver passenger unit I saw for sale last week)...

I don't know exactly where to point you (though Creative Mobile Interiors would be my first guess), but second row seats were and probably still are widely available, since many people took seats out of their vans to do the conversions. Also, it is not difficult, as decent seat mounting points...

That's what I had. I thoughtlessly sold it to a couple that came up to me at Sprinterfest last April and flattered me with talk of how perfect it would be for their retirement, so given that the XV-JP was finsihed, I sold it to them. (Tried to buy it back from them a couple months ago. No dice...

Christian, In 2006 in NAFTA countries, you got the T1N with either a 118, 140 or 158 inch wheelbase, which translated into roughly 15.5, 18.5 and 21.5 feet of length respectively. The 118 is very short on cabin (behind the seat) space at about 7 feet long; you get 10 feet in the 140 and about...

Trust me, you want to order everything that you're going to want on the Sprinter from the start. Many of the options you might want don't exist in the aftermarket, and many that do are not as elegant. The exception would be side windows. The MBz windows do not open (though one is an emergency...

There are a few threads around the Portal discussing this question; do a search for "Sprinter" in the post titles to get most of the threads. Alternately, you can start here: http://www.expeditionportal.com/forum/threads/19224 In that build thread for my T1N Sprinter, there's some discussion...

EarthRoamer website "suspended" - what's up?

'Lest anyone worry that a company that makes quarter-million-dollar-plus overland trucks isn't organized enough to pay the hosting bill, the EarthRoamer site was down because it got hacked and it took a little while to get it back up. As was noted above, the website is actively maintained...

27-gal Tough Box plastic totes at Costco for $8.99/ea (Feb 2013)

:iagree: They also stack very well. Might be a little bigger than ideal for some mobile uses, but there's no question that they are good value, even if you just want to organize spare parts in your shop.
