The Lowe's close to Paul in Olympia, Washington had it in stock. Your mileage may vary, but they are available on-line as well. Use "raised coin" in your search.
Sadly, all the information I knew about this was from 2004 as I was trying to get 4WD on a NAFTA Sprinter. And as Holmes told Watson, "there comes a time when for every addition of knowledge you forget something that you knew before," and any useful facts are apparently long gone. I vaguely...
Doesn't look like he's had anything to post up lately, but if you haven't been to his blog in the past three weeks or so:
http://pauljensencustom.blogspot.com/
take a couple of minutes to go look at the very fine collection of auto/rv/just plain cool photos he's posted.
I've no direct experience with the 311, though much with the 316. I'm going to guess that performance will be tolerable, but nothing to write home about. It will, of course, depend somewhat on whether you drive around the empty box or, as I did, add everything including the kitchen sink. My...
I added to the functionality of my conversion--at least I hope I did--by adding the Kelty Carport that had been sitting around for a while awaiting the perfect use.
There are reviews of the Carport all over the internets, including at least one by an ExPo member...
Well said. I certainly do agree that it's uncool acting like it's a still a Mog. One can't imagine that Boyd Coddington ever bragged that CadZZilla's is "a Cadillac Model 62, one of the cushiest sedans of the forties." :sombrero:
It is indeed worth a look. I had a Unimog with the right engine, transmission, transfer case, etc. and did, in fact, take it more than 150 miles from home. But I don't recall any interest from the Museum of Modern Art, Discover Magazine or the like. :(
He might better have left "Mog" out of the...
I certainly hope so. It's been great following Brad and the Karavan. Plus, this product would raise the glamping standard significantly; washing machines will become the new fridges.
It's very cool. Thanks for finding and posting it.
Oh, dear. ;)
Perhaps we could show you something a bit newer? Faster? More service-friendly? Less DMV-unfriendly?
Maybe even a little more money?
Just sayin' . . . :sombrero:
Sadly, it's tough to say how great a specific tire is since you only get to compared different sets every many thousand miles. Still, based on my experience, supported by a lot of research before I got them, I think the Duratracs are tough to beat.
They seem an excellent tread design. Plenty of...
Me, too. It's a fantastic piece of work, and with my own Sprinter sold, I'm living vicariously through your build.
Enjoy your travels. Your rig sure turned out great.
Times 2, I'm afraid. I looked into these extensively, liking the size, styling and the reasonable price. But, good grief, what a litany of problems and negative comments. Scared me off, for sure . . . and I don't scare that easily.
Many congratulations, both on the acquisition and the courage to buy it. ;) And for maintaining the good attitude as you got it back home.
Nice to see that you have another LeSharo and the experience that came with that. This new one would seem to have amazing potential for a lot of fun. Good...
Congratulations to you both. Linda will show the Tiger a good time and now I can kibitz as Smitty finds the next great thing. ;)
All in all, a good result.
Nominally a 1996 XR600R, but redone down to the frame in 2002, with a lot of engine work to make it wicked fast. Had Pirelli Dragons on until recently, when it I switched to MT-60s to get a little bit of dirt capability back. (Got the idea from seeing them on the Husky Concept Moab, which has 17...
Wow! Talk about your ten pounds of potatoes in a five pound bag. Lots of clever ideas here to keep you thinking. An excellent forum for anyone thinking about living out of small vehicle. (Makes me sad I sold the Samurai. ;) )
Many thanks for the link.
