    ATRAC damage, discussion.

"thru the front driveline" is an obfuscating statement. you will NEVER get 100% of the total output of the engine to one wheel in an atrac system, whereas you will EASILY do that in a locked truck. thats what breaks driveline hicky-ma-doodles. a brake frozen wheel in an open diff is not the...

    ATRAC damage, discussion.

while im being persuaded that a system that includes atrac isnt always benign, id like to point out, that the potential damage stated has to do with a rapidly spinning tire... which means the atrac at that time isnt engaged, which means more often than not its being driven poorly by an...

My Limb Riser Setup With Pictures and Supply List

Go to a marine supply and shop pipe and rail clamps. Water will capillary into any bolt run thru a pipe, settle at the lowest point, likely a weld, and rust it out. Its why you weld tabs for lights an such on bull bars. Never drill holes.

    Did Hammarhead Industries go under???

you cant pay someone back by taking money off of others. if theres a judgement against him.... you may have to refund that money, and only get back an equal share with everyone else that got screwed... even if theres only a 10% chance im right, you may want to delete this post, as you are...

notice how there is no spinning tire to suddenly catch and snap axles... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fk6ARzFBBQk notice how you suddenly want to punch carl weathers in slow motion by the end of the vid.

odd. at 3.00 in the second vid, traction control was working EXACTLY how it was supposed to, and was driven in how you drive it in to an obstacle. he sad it was "over ridden" and it wasnt.

    Need a little help

oh... :( thats sucky inconvenient worst case scenarioish. start a thread pointed three, and on clubgwagon, explain you need a data card. he may not be the only one that knows how to get one. it sounds like what you need. i see you did that. good luck! i think guido has the sure fire way...

its equal and opposite. the wheel with traction can only supply the same amount of force going to the braked wheel, so, its at best 1/2. there is no "transfer" of force in an open diff, only a matching of force.

for apples to apples, i was sort of limiting this to the atrac available trucks. one could easily make the argument that that is just a crappy diff. ive seen locked jeep rears catch and take out the tcase. if a truck has parts that are plain ol undersized, something ends up breaking no matter what.

    ATRAC damage, discussion.

sure it needs to slip, but even if its slipping at a high rate of speed initially, a brake itself cant brake an axle, and the kinetic energy of the spinning tire is being given off as heat by the brake. it never sees the axle. the only energy the axle sees is from the motor, and its at best 1/2...

    ATRAC damage, discussion.

heres a good discussion. it was suggested in another thread that the shock of atrac engage/disengage would damage axles and gears before a locker.... i say poppycock. first, the atrac works by braking an open diff, which by definition means the tires will see at best HALF the TQ at the tire...

Project Hundy Build Thread - 2000 UZJ100 Land Cruiser

from what i could tell by size and weight, the only difference between the 10000 and 8000 was the gear ratio, and for the vast majority of pulls, ill take the speed. for a good stuck, if a double line of 16000 aint gettin me out, im digging anyway.

    100/lx470 lift opininions

no. im like moving an iceburg. im leaning cheap, which means ironman (which i wanted to try their shocks, and it comes with lower a-arm gussets) or old man emu. what will likely happen, is me having some questions for Kurt (cruiser outfitters), so i'll buy off him for his input, regardless of...

Project Hundy Build Thread - 2000 UZJ100 Land Cruiser

ive been using the vr8000 on a fully loaded lx470, and its been peachy. warn seems to pull more than rating. i had to double line once when my custom fish hook... err... rear winch bumper snagged a rock, and i yanked that mutha out of the ground.
