Sleeping Bag & Pad Recommendations for Big Guys?

The blanket idea is what I've been doing with a simple fleece thing that I tuck around my shoulders, but I tend to sleep pretty hot and don't really worry about cold. I rarely have the opportunity to sleep about 10,000 feet anymore, so I am not concerned about rating, other than it might be too...

    Pahrump Montero Collection

Driving up the back way to Death Valley this weekend, passed a house on the outskirts of Pahrump, NV with 6, maybe 7 Montero’s in the front yard, looked like they were all (or mostly) in operable condition. Are you here on ExPo?

Sleeping Bag & Pad Recommendations for Big Guys?

I'm 6'-7" and +300 lbs, 54" chest. I am looking for a sleeping bag that I can comfortably fit in, and a pad that is about 40" wide or so. I am basically the same shape and size as THREE wine barrels stacked on top of each other :) I HATE skinny pads where it feels like I am sleeping on a...

    The Resurrection of Monty

They are virtually the same engine. Minor differences in throttle body design and the front accessory plate, but otherwise, very very similar. It's the same engine, just slightly bigger bore and newer engine management system.

    The Resurrection of Monty

I completely agree on space. The only thing that compares well to the Monty on interior space is the Land Rover LR3 or the Lexus GX470, or something like a Suburban/Excursion, but that is a whole different class of vehicle. The Monty is great in size, but I am making the Jeep work for me because...

    The Resurrection of Monty

I watched a couple YouTube videos and had a knowledgable buddy who lives a few miles away come over and laugh at me a few times during the process. I bought my 2002 as a "mechanics special", as in, non-running. I was hoping it was just heads such as a bent valve or something, but I couldn't...

    The Resurrection of Monty

Cool color! I’ve had a similar journey. Rebuilt my 2002 Gen3 engine, then recently it got rear ended, just spent the past three months salvaging parts from junk yards and rebuilt it. It’s almost done, but it is back on the road. I’m currently in a 2006 Jeep Grand Cherokee 5.7, and yeah...

    Best Jeep-Specific Online Forums?

JeepForum is pretty good for tech help, JeepGarage seems to be a newer, reborn version of it. Both have recently updated their forum software and are pretty nice to use. Oddly, JeepForum seems to HATE JeepGarage and blocks and links between the two. MyJeepRocks was a super awesome local...

LR3 Air vs. Coil in depth comparison

As a former owner of a Springer along with months of seat time behind the wheel of a air based HSE, I have my opinions on what you will conclude. Drum roll please...................... >>>>>>> >>>>>>> >>>>>>> and now for the big finale!: It depends! In my opinion, the air suspension...

Anyone installed a Frontrunner Rack or pulled their headliner?

My LR3 was an 2005, and I had factory rails/gutters that my Thule pylons clamped onto. No drilling, no removal of the bolts that anchor the rail to the roof, although I did have to tighten my bolts periodically.

Anyone installed a Frontrunner Rack or pulled their headliner?

What I did was mount the rack to a Thule load bar system. It was super easy. The Thule pylons came with these little rectangles of metal that fit in the U-shaped channel of the roof channel, and then you turned them so that they clamped tight against the edges and flanges of the U-shaped...

1998 Mitsubishi Montero Needs Some Love

Depending on where you are, I can offer two choices. There is a shop in Ventura or Van Nuys (?) area that gets a LOT of Montero business. I cannot for the life of me remember the name of the shop, but on Facebook, look up "WM F Coleman" who works there, and is the administrator for the SoCal...

    2006 LR3 Head Gasket Issue

Sourcing a new engine when you only need to replace the head gaskets is like buying four new tires to fix a slow leak in one of them.

    Recovery Rope or Recovery Strap?

A lot of the choice between a kinetic rope verses a strap has to do with the type of Stuck you encounter. Deep Mud ad deep sand are examples of Stuck Situations that requires some inertia to overcome the initial roll resistance to being pulled out. If you are just tugging someone off a rock...

Having a hard time finding Montero Gen 3 parts in the Americas

I have not looked up your part numbers, but I’ve had good success with RockAuto.com. However, I have noticed a dwindling supply, that’s for sure.
