I'd order the vehicle without any options and do a quick Ebay/CL search. I'm sure there will be plenty of LR Expedition racks hitting the second hand market soon

    A FWD Defender??

Today I learned two things lol. Even the shifter looks identical to the one in the Focus RS. Was it possible to get the manual with 4WD?

Your last sentence is actually an interesting one. I see far more diesel RRS and RR than I do diesel F150's. So strange considering the F150 is the best selling vehicle in America.

    A FWD Defender??

Correct. The plan back in 2014 was to offer a 2WD version (Just like the Evoque), but it never came to fruition. If my memory serves me correct, it's a similar 4WD system to the one found in the Focus RS in that it's a Haldex system that is primarily FWD until the center diff is engaged.

couple of random and general questions

As I pointed out above, my guess is that the D5, L494 and L405 probably came with slightly sturdier compressors than the LR3's that most members on here have grown accustomed to. Additionally, I haven't heard much from people Re: compressor failures once they upgrade to the better AMK units in...

couple of random and general questions

Well, with Re: to Q1, you're correct for the older Rovers such as the Gen 1 RRS and LR3. However, later LR such as the L405/L494 have the ability to automatically raise and lower the car with parking/unlocking, so I guess LR must've updated the hardware to cope, right? Grandpa had a diesel L494...

?‍♂️ My Hellcat refused to start after 400 miles. I'm willing to give this a pass considering the various manufacturing delays they've encountered due to COVID. I think LR is struggling to keep up with demand and they're rushing cars out of the factory gates when they most likely shouldn't be...

    Damage coming off the truck

That's completely fair, and frankly....exactly how most of us would view this. That said, each state has different laws Re: disclosure of damage. I'd run a CarFax before taking delivery to ensure that it won't have a dirty CarFax after the repair. If it does, then either 1) walk away or 2)...

I like it. Could definitely use a lower grill blackout though. Overall, they've really improved the aesthetics and capabilities of the D2. I'm sure someone will inevitably disagree and "rage/hate".

They've gotta make some money somewhere. At the end of the day, the enthusiasts always go for the smaller wheel options. Lets be real...barely anyone is going to buy the 18" steel wheel option here in the USA, but they'll still offer it (despite the fact that they won't sell many) because they...

Out with the Cruiser in with the Rover

The Disco Sport has a very low first gear. Frankly, I think the DS' biggest flaw isn't the lack of a low range box, but rather the fact that it uses (or rather used) a Haldex AWD system.

Life With A Supercharged RRS For an Overland Rig

I always keep a battery booster/jumper pack with me in the LR3 for this very reason. While my truck can sit for 3 weeks and maintain sufficient juice for a start up, I never want to take that risk when I'm out on the trail.

    New Defender News

I'm not usually one to defend lift-rods, but it seems this particular D2 with larger/heavier tires and a rear locker is doing pretty well with lift rods. It's a mild lift so it's not completely maxing out the suspension, and the extra sidewall and compliance from the wide 33's (plus low air...

Maybe it's for added clearance? Could also be for purely aesthetic reasons. If you're trying to stuff a 33"+ tire in there, the dainty little aero deflector is probably going to get snagged on an obstacle.

    LR4 Factory Locker Swap

Doesn't ARB do air lockers for both the front and rear? I know it requires aux air, but a review of your thread has told me that it's a simpler/more convenient solution than retrofitting and wiring. That said, this is a great write up and should be made a "sticky" considering how often this very...

Good news: Jaguar Land Rover to continue AJ V8 production in-house

That's exactly what was powering it. There's a video of a new D90 "SVX" that came out a few days ago and you can clearly hear supercharger whine as it goes down Brunnchen.
