All your examples either still offer the original line, or despite their differences, are still far more similar to the original than the fashion Defender. Again, so are several new vehicles, yet none of them are a Defender. The right stats are required, but obviously do not make a Defender in...

It's the "take" of a megalomaniac art collector who hates offroading. LC was split early on into three lines: heavy duty, light duty, and wagon. 50 series was the first in the new wagon line. Few people would care to debate it wearing the LC name, since the original (heavy duty) line continued...

There was no common direction. Lr3/4 went the boring and unreliable direction, 100 the boring but competent direction, and 200 the boring, rare, and too expensive to be practical direction. Craigslist tells the story of each. The most important "direction" is 4Runner, Wranger, and Tacoma taking...

It means what I said, which again was "The obvious refute to this is the existence of the INEOS project". Where did I say they were destined to be a runaway success and put LR out of business? I didn't. They're attempting to build a modern Defender, because JLR's attempt is the disappointing...

You missed the point. No one claimed they would be successful, which doesn't matter. What does matter, is it's rare a vehicle misses the mark so substantially that it spawns a serious effort to do it right.

The moment he complains about the old one's road handling, you know he doesn't have a clue. Of course he then takes the common erroneous position that if it wasn't the same as the original, everyone was going to hate it. This rampant binary stupidity asserts that the new fashion Defender was the...

https://www.motortrend.com/cars/land-rover/defender/2020/2020-land-rover-defender-110-hse-p400-review/ From photos underneath, and part #s observed, it appears it rides on the same geometry and control-arms as the D5. It's a missed opportunity to really demonstrate the potential off IS offroad...

I think the engineers did. However, the design dept is running the show. They wanted something that slotted into the existing lineup and fit their vision of utilitarian, which for a bunch of people who jerk off over austere Apple design principals and London chic vehicle aesthetics, is very...

That's always been an advantage, but after parroting the same stat (and others) for years, it gets few excited, and ultimately doesn't sell. It needs to maintain that advantage, but there's so much more it needed beyond stats to gain the interest of buyers.

True, there's not much efficiency to gain. The fashion Defender leaves much to be desired, but locking hubs are not.

    Drug Dealer?

You're repeating a common EAS misconception, at great length. The video was for you. Don't take it personally. This topic has come up before, and been corrected before. Unless you can point to a reference that states otherwise, LR has never implemented a system that modulates airbag pressure...

    Drug Dealer?

Sorry professor, but your lengthy explanation is wrong. Given constant payload, bag pressure is constant at all ride heights. Pressure only varies when raising, lowering, or when payload changes. Spring rate actually decreases slightly at increased ride heights due to increased bag volume. The...

    Drug Dealer?

Pressure is constant, only volume changes. Rubber age is what killed them.

That's to be expected. However, they seem to be gaining no ground even after decades of opportunity.

Yeah I guess it's funny if you manufacture inconsistencies. However, I FTFY.

I liked the part where you said "premier global mall crawler". Good chuckle that. I mean there's an entire line of cars that takes the cake for global mall crawling, and G is only second. Mechanical reliability has improved. Unfortunately, they kept finding new ways to inject that classic Lucas...

We're still trying to keep four tires moving on hazardous terrain, while keeping every other component off it, including the wheels.

In 10 years you'll be saying 50-55 tires are acceptable, and 10 years later you'll be parroting whatever else they want to you believe. However, I agree in a way, that LR and others don't have much incentive to deliver on proven off-road design principals, since so few use them as intended...
