For the Defender market, which doesn't demand it, you don't. The ride quality of a P38, a huge improvement, would be beyond acceptable without over-complicating what should be a relatively simple vehicle.

I never met a Defender owner who worried about that. They usually only want better insulation, heating, cooling, sealing, component quality, a few airbags, and don't change anything else. It's like worrying about suspension travel on a Honda Civic.

I95 at a steady 80 mph cruise? Every modern solid axle vehicle does this. A solid axle 2004 D2 does it. A modern solid axle Defender would be no different.

That doesn't make it the "first off-roading drive". There are dozens of vehicles that can imitate Ken Block. It's nothing unique or needed in a Defender.
