:Wow1: I'm also struggling to think of what else could play a role in the CV axle getting too close to the coil spring. If you pull the diff drop out, I assume you'll have to relocate the limit straps? Seems like a reasonable place to start if you've already eliminated the cam tabs.

Wider Track without Low Offset Wheels or LT Kits - 1st Gen Tundra

You don't have to go long travel. You could swap in a solid axle instead! :D

Will do! Truthfully they are more aggressive than I wanted to go as well, however, we often travel by ourselves. As much as I yearned for the quietness of an all-terrain, I decided the upsides of the mud-terrain in this case outweighed the downsides.

Yes and no. :squint: Ordered them in early September. At that point they were 2-3 weeks out. As of last week they were still 2 weeks out. :squint: :squint: :squint: Hoping to get them soon, I have a bunch of other stuff I'm waiting to do all at the same time hopefully before my truck...

I will be rocking a set of 285/75R16 Cooper STT Pro. They'll probably sit in the garage for a bit until I can get the cam tabs fixed up, my front suspension redone, and the truck will be going into the body shop right before Thanksgiving to fix up the hail damage.

In my quest to achieve better braking performance I recently installed a set of Goodridge stainless steel braided brake lines. I chose to go with the +4" version (http://www.autoanything.com/brakes/61A3671A0A0.aspx) which was a bit of a compromise. The +4" was great for the rear and will...

It's update season! Looks like I have a trip to a fabricator in my near future. I was wondering why my tires had started to wear unevenly recently and a quick peek under the truck was all I needed. The front cam tabs on both LCAs are in the process of folding over with the passenger side being...

5/5 for that ice formation! 2/5 on the truck. MEH. ;)

No updates (that I can share yet) other than I have migrated all of my photos from Photobucket to Flickr and 98% of the broken links are now corrected. That was a project in itself.

So whose 4Runner rollover in CO is this?

Good to know, thank you for the info. I was curious to know where the incident occurred but owing to the sensitive nature of the matter felt wrong asking.

So whose 4Runner rollover in CO is this?

Nope. That Landcruiser rolled near Gunnison (still haven't read which trail). This 4runner flopped on Black Bear Pass near Telluride. I guess if he was going to pick a spot to flop I'd chose that over quite a few other places on that trail.

    Tacoma/Tundra; Trd Pro?

Knowing what I know now (own a built 4.0L DCLB Taco), I think I'd spring for the following: Tundra (non-TRD Pro) + tire of choice + OEM length King shocks Throw your lockers in there and go. Supercharger would be a nice addition, but probably not a need.

Help me spend some $ but not too much...

You'll definitely need something in the rear of your truck to handle 1000-1300 lbs, especially if you are seeing those loads semi-frequently and for longer distances. Have you considered something like Firestone airbags? They would allow you to firm up the rear end when hauling those loads then...

    40 Guy builds a 100 Series

My recent experience with Rustoleum Professional enamel has been less than pleasant as well. It didn't lay down well over Rustoleum primer, had pin holes like you said, and some sections turned out glossy where others were more of a semi-gloss, enough so that it was noticeable. I recently...

Payload in Tacomas- Canopies and Suspension Question

Sadly that's not the case round these parts. When I was shopping in 2014, 2012 model years with 40K on them were going for $2-3K less than a brandy new one. To me that wasn't enough of a price difference to warrant buying a used one, but I certainly recognize that CO is a bit of an outlier when...

To add fuel to the fire, I met up with DaVikes last night so I could take his truck for a spin and see what I thought of a 4.56 equipped truck. Big thanks to him for handing the keys to his incredibly well built truck to a complete stranger! For those who have the pleasure, check out the topper...

Payload in Tacomas- Canopies and Suspension Question

Maybe I just tend to be a conservative individual or a towing neophyte, but my comments on the towing capability are geared more towards its ability to haul the weight in a safe manner than it is about its ability to tow it in the first place. It's the argument of can I vs. should I. The Tacoma...
