I have to second this.
Really why do none of the manufacturers offer this option. I mean honestly, it would not only save weight, but increase comfort exponentially. Hell I bet someone like thermarest would even be willing to partner with a brand.
I have spoke to a Big Agnes rep, who I used...
And get half as good fuel milage.
That adds up, even if Diesel is slightly more expensive. Not to mention the ability to drive right on through sketchy areas and refuel at your own pace vs having to refuel every few hours in a gas truck.

You can run higher sulfur diesel fuel found in Mexico and South America in a deleted truck though. For those that travel internationally and have a diesel, deleting becomes a huge benefit.

It needs to be said though. Especially since people are referring to it as the “full size bronco”, which it’s a far cry from.

I sat in a 200 series for the first time a few weekends ago at the Atlanta Autoshow.
And it honestly felt like I sat in a brand new car from 10 years ago.
Nothing felt luxurious, the interior, other than the leather, looked and felt cheap.
For $85k I was super disappointed, and frankly...
Besides the obvious metrics that far more bumper manufacturers exist than skid plate manufacturers and the number of skid plate offerings for any vehicle can usually be counted on one hand, bumpers are far more useful on a vehicle than skid plates.
A bumper, protects the vehicle wether on or...
I’ve never understood this POV, and view it as misdirected poor self confidence.
Why does someone have to be trying to impress someone? Why can’t they just be making themselves happy?
Just do what makes you happy, who cares what anyone else does.
If buying a bunch of stuff you may or may...
I’m not into LCs, so I’m not sure when the changeover to the 200 was made. I’m sure a quick google search would solve that but I’m too lazy. But I’m sure an early 200 series could probably be had for relatively cheap.
But less than 4 years old I’m sure still holds a premium.

The hard sides of the pop up are a very nice feature.
I know FWC is offering a very similar topper now, but it still has the soft sides found in their other models.

The only other option that I can think of, besides a soft topper from best top, would be the Thule Trac Rac. It’s movable so it will work with a gooseneck. Then I’d add an iKamper tent. It will fit 2 adults and three kids as it’s a little bigger than a king bed.

I agree that an outdoor cooking experience is preferable.
I’ve wondered why FWC doesn’t make a model that is more accommodating to that.
Having said that, both PCOR and 50Ten offer flat bed camper models that support an outdoor cooking style. May want to check those out as well.

Sounds like a soft top bed cover is what you need.
Easily removed or folded down for hauling or loading but provides a weather proof shell when deployed...
The tooling alone to mass profile carbon fiber products is insanely expensive. That’s why most CF manufacturers hand lay their carbon, and it’s still expensive even though the cost has dropped recently.
The fiber and epoxy alone really isn’t that expensive but it’s just so nice to have such a...
