AND she's on the truck! Home-made Alaska custom tiny house built into old Ford F350 diesel!

Well if this isn't the coolest thing on the internet today, I don't know what is.

Studded vs non-studded Nokian LT2/3 - calling fellow northerners & Canadians

I do recall driving the Coquihalla one winter a long, long time ago in complete black-out conditions. My passenger rolled his window down and we navigated quite the distance by distance from the concrete siderail, it was the only thing we could see.. We were young and stupid, so turning around...

Studded vs non-studded Nokian LT2/3 - calling fellow northerners & Canadians

I'm a firm believe in studded winter tires. Always have been. I guess everyone can post their anecdotal perspective, here's mine. I live in BC and drive up and down mountains for work and pleasure. I bought a Dodge Caravan work van 2 years ago that came with those Nokian...

    thoughts on full size

I went from an Xterra to a Tundra (insert your full size truck of choice here, but I chose the Tundra for my needs), and I'd never go back to a mid-size anything. The added interior room and comfort of that added leg/head room alone is worth any offset in mileage. A few years ago we did a 6500km...

Tundra relocation back up camera extension. Where to buy??

Plug & Play option from Camera Source. I have this one on my Tundra, works like a charm. You can remove thecamera from their license plate mount if you wish, mount it pretty much anywhere you want. https://camera-source.com/10-16-tacoma-license-plate-camper-camera-kit-plug-and-play.html

How to address condensation issues in a FWC/similar pop up?

I keep a turnbuckle door cracked open along with a rooftop vent cracked open. It seems to keep airflow moving a bit better, and does cut down on condensation a bit. We are 2 hoomans, and 2 dogs, so we do seem to create some condensation at times. Aside from that, we wipe down the pop up material...

    Project BadAstro

Just remember to replace the fuel filter with every oil change. I retired my 2000 Astro Van last year after 300K Km of hard work kilometers. I beat on that van, and used it like a work truck for 15 years and it was the best van ever. The only real issue that came up was replacing a few fuel...

    Fuel Cans: Scepter or Valpro?

I love my Scepter MFC's. They seem bombproof, I'm pretty sure I could drive over one without harming it. They see 45* Celcius down to -20* Celcius without any complaining at all. I love the internal vent thru the handle, it allows them to fully empty in what seems like seconds. The long flexible...

    Gas can kill.

The Dawson City intersection to Eagle Plains on the Dempster Hwy is appx. 375km. Easily reacheable on a tank of gas by most vehicles......of course unless a forest fire, or accident, or bad weather, or landslide close the highway at the 350km mark and you have to turn around. Road conditions...

    Gas can kill.

Right on. I drove an old 70's Ford when I worked at a pool place back in college. Had the auxiliary tank behind the seat. We used to call her Whiplash. I reckon she could probably hit a tank and come out on top.

    Retirement truck

You know, I'm not entirely sure yet. But I'd say something more along the lines of a smaller off-road capable expedition-type smaller rv sized vehicle. Something that we could live full time in for a few years anyways. Probably something that is full height, we were looking at the Earthcruiser...

    Retirement truck

This is our "pre-retirement" setup. I wanted a gas powered reliable full size truck that would last and give me no problems for the next 10-15 years. We've been a few places (you could say) over the past few years and she has done nothing but excel at her job. We've spent 3 weeks touring...

Are you kidding me? Up to $7000 off MSRP on Wrangler Unlimiteds!

Hey now, what's wrong with the Pentastar.....oh, nevermind.... I forgot that I spent $5K last year to have the awesome Pentastar repaired in my 2015 Dodge Caravan with 110K kilometers on it (and just out of warranty of course) after it decided to shite itself. I had a TJ about 15 years ago...

    Extreme use Earthroamer

In BC, each road is given a specific fequency channel (I believe they use VHF or something like that). Their are large signs letting you know the frequcny channel to listen to, if you have the right type of radio (they don't use CB's here). The logging truck drivers will call either up or down...

    Extreme use Earthroamer

Their are pullouts on the logging roads, if you have the right radio and listen you will know when to pull over and wait. I don't, so I just drive with extreme care. Most logging trucvks are the regualr on-road ones and usually you have enough room to squeeze by. The large off-road ones do...

I've had a few of those for a number of years now. They are well worth the cost, and hold up very well.

    Extreme use Earthroamer

i just came back from spending two glorious weeks exploring Northern Vancouver Island. You can get almost anywhere up their via logging roads.....of course the downside if you have to watch for those massive Vancouver Island logging trucks and be prepared to eat the ditch at a moments notice...
