Yes, when I decided I wanted to jump into this thing called "overlanding" I tried explaining my lust for it to my Wife.
I then sat her down in front of the tv and we binge watched the Yukon / Alaska series and she was sold....110%.
Just this morning she texted me to let me know that in 2018...
I use our vacuum sealer all the time. Generally whenever I'm cooking a chunk of meat I cook way more than is required then portion off single meal sizes and vacuum seal them for later use.
It's become a great addition to pre-prep for camping type meals.
I smoked 3 shoulders a couple months...
I thought that the new the decent option up was something like 3.69. I may be wrong. 4.10 may be pushing it a bit for everything I use the Xterra for. It's just brainstorming for now. I thought I read that one could look for a buy a whole front differential with the 3. 69 already in it for good...
For what it's worth, I try not to overthink or over complicate things. Buying a fridge was hands down the single best investment and choice I've made. Period. I also went with a simple dual battery setup with a TMax controller and I have a 75 Watt solar panel and control. (A simple Coleman...
What's next? I already have the winch (and have found it useful), so I'd say go for the winch and the sliders then re-gear from there..IMO. My short list includes, sliders, snorkel, and re-gearing.
As far as the re-gearing goes, I'm thinking of going to the 3.69 (or whatever it is), looking...
250000KM on my 07 Off-Road. I bought it used with 180000KM on it, and replaced both front hubs right away. I've had my inside fan blower go, and my motor fan clutch go. I've also replaced the rear hatch struts as they were starting to lose their effectiveness. Replaced the front sway bar joints...
Great pictures, and lucky kids to have a Dad like you I gotta say. We grew up with a Dad who loved the adventure and the memories and stories we have to recount our childhood experiences outweigh any amount of money or bag of shiny gold in the world. Good stuff indeed.
You will have to return...
Well congratulations on your marriage from us Canucks up here. I hope you enjoy honeymooning in the Rockies. I proposed to my wife on Going To The Sun Road and we honeymooned on our bikes on a memorable road trip through Montana and Oregon.
If you ever push west far enough to reach the...
"We don't allow those here". We left our house after work on a Thursday afternoon and made it to the Couer D'alene area before darkness and exhaustion form the work day caught up with us. As we were in unfamiliar territory and as it was now pitch black we decided to head for the closest...
Our plan was to make a quick run to Lolo, Montana, hook up with some friends, then convoy south by southeast with Ouray, Colorado as our mid-stop destination. From there we would head east over Engineer Pass and on towards Colorado Springs where we were meeting up with around 15 of our good...
It was fantastic. Can't stop reliving the whole Mineral Creek Engineer Pass experience. My buddy towed his adventure trailer up the whole thing, which a sight and accomplishment in of itself.

Excellent Story. Watching the X Overland series last winter was what convinced my Wife that this form of adventure travel could be very fun and rewarding.

A quick update as I sit here in Kokanee Creek Park on the final day of our summer road trip and adventure. I'll post a full report ( with lots of pictures) when we get back to the real world, but for now I'll leave a few quick pictures here as a highlight of our travels. We decided to take the...
I bought a led floodlight from a local heavy machinery store for $20. Screwed a surplus clamp I found in the garage to it, connected about 12' of wire and a spare plug to it, and there you have my el cheapo portable flood light.
We are going to be travelling from BC to Colorado at the end of the month and I am trying to figure which offline map source ro save. Our travels will be split between highways and byways, and offroad where it may interest us. We are heading from our home in the Okanagan Valley to the Missoula...
I bought a $45 hitch mounted cargo rack from Princess Auto, and messed around with it a bit and clamped/bolted it on top of my wetbox on the Xterra. Voila; el cheapo roof rack mod complete.
