I bought the spring, bit removed it Becuase the antenna would whip and ********** into the side of the Xterra. (I have mine mounted on the rear corner) the Firestik seems to deflect quite a bit and hasn't broken or bent yet. I still carry the spring around, just on case.

I've never had an issue or felt any uneasy-ness associated with having the rooftop tent of the Xterra. We get pretty off camber at times, and do run some tight and twisty mountain highways, and it's always felt rock solid. The RTT only weighs a couple hundred pounds, so it shouldn't really be...
Did you just order the sensors through Nissan? Where would the crank sensor be located, and would you happen to have part numbers kicking around? Are they straight plug and play items, or do they require a reset or re-programmubg? This sounds like something I should think about changing out, or...
I pointed out a Pro-4X Frontier to my wife today, and she agreed it could be a possible replacement for the X a few years (and hundred thousand miles) down the road less travelled.

I'm at 155K miles now, and plan to keep up with maintenance and replacing parts that start to fail, and keep her running for a number of years to come. I change fluids on a regular basis, and had her in fir new plugs and a complete service last year. Been slowly replacing suspension...
That's a great write up. Just having those bolt on axles instead of the splined ones is such a bonus. It would make a trailside broken axle removal pretty easy. Now I just have to keep an eye out for the axles.

We took our Xterra on a 6000km trip from BC to Colorado this past summer, did the Mineral creek trail up to and over Engineer Pass along with some offloading near Colorado Springs and never had an issue. Our X currently has 250000km on it, and I always try to keep things going nice and slow...
Maybe you could confirm the V8 Pathy axles part numbers on RockAuto when you have a minute? I would like to see if the ones you ordered are the same as the ones I'm looking at pucking up. The part number I'm looking at is definitely different than the V6 Pathfinder axles they sell.

This read has been fantastic, the photos and description of your adventure really paint a fantastic picture. I feel a small bit of guilt in the fact that I have never visited this area within my own country.

That took awhile to wade through, but I think I made it. To respond to the OP's query regarding carrying a firearm while in the wilderness, yes I do. Unless we are crossing into the US I always bring a short shotgun along while camping, hiking, out exploring in the back country or...
I have mine grounded to the battery. I do have a dual battery setup with a controller, but I've yet to notice any issues. I winched a few heavy pulls and it's always worked perfectly. She cranks over just fine in this cold winter weather too. I'm running a pair of Deka Intimidators.

Montana is simply an epic place to visit. We have good friends in Lolo, and try to visit once a year. We've ridden extensively in the state, and toured around in the Xterra as well. The big sky is just surreal to experience.

Can we vote this as favorite thread of the year? Just brilliant, loving coming back to read updates and look at the amazing pictures. I feel guilty that the Rockies are so close to home, yet I've never driven to experience them. Something I just have to resolve to witness. Thanks again for...
I'll be interested to see how it goes w/o the front sway bar. I've removed my rear and with the stiffer leaf pack, hardly notice a difference.

I don't know if the Navara has the same under hood layout as a North American Frontier/Xterra, though I doubt it. I was able to install a second full size battery under the hood of my Xterra. I had to relocate the power steering reservoir and fab up a dual battery bracket, but they do both fit...
