If you look closely at the pictures, the pipe on top slides into the bottom pipe, we drilled holes through the outside pipe in two places. The rack stays in the down position until I need the room. Then to adjust the height I just slide the rack up and put pins through the outside pipe in one...
I bought it on amazon, it's for a 1976-1983 Jeep CJ5 (Omix-ADA DMC-685459). We cut the top roll off and replaced it with a larger rounded pipe to match the top of the trailer. Also there is two holes in the bottom to fit the hinges that we welded closed.
Let me ask this what type of battery is everyone using out there, I know you need a deep cycle. I'm looking to power some LED lights with it, later I may add solar panels to recharge it.
The finished product, at least for now. It's in the driveway but I'm hoping to take it out later this month and try it out.
Here's the jeep and trailer together.
When I broght my trailer home we flipped it up side down on the trailer and it fit fine. Enjoy the project, it's never ending. It looks like you have a good starting point.

The final product. It's a three pin system, the top pin is the hinge pin, then the second is the stabelizer and...
We attached it to the basket and the the top. With attaching it in a few different points and having the bars welded across it is very stable now.
The rack is adjustable on top so it will lift up if I want to put my kayaks on the basket
A few more pictures of the progress, first is the rack removed.
The reworked rack.
The tent in the box still sitting on the top.
A look at the top of the rack system.
 I received another letter from the DMV yesterday this is the second letter now. The first letter they needed another form from the DMV inspector, I took care of that and now I received another letter for something else. Well it's another hoop to jump through to get the title for the...
Mark, there is a second build planned, my brother really doesn't have a use for a trailer but he really just enjoys building them. So we are going to build another for fun.
As far as the wires go there is no wiring in the box in the front. When I was thinking it out I had no intentions to have a power source in the tongue box now that might change depending on my needs. The wire is run through the receiver, we drilled a hole in the receiver and ran it through it...
