Now you can not even tell that the top was more than one piece.
Here's the inside, we welded some hooks on the inside to be able to hook things to the inside.
The top fit good now it was time to finish it off. Cutting, welding and grinding.
As I had said it was not square so this was the result of that, one side was about an inch to two inches short. The metal was already cut, no problem though we just had a little more welding, cutting and grinding.
Last weekend I went to my brother's house and we built the top for the trailer.
So the trailer is out of square, we knew that it was but it is out of square in two ways. Here's a test fit on the trailer.
My brother and his father in law checking it out.
Here's the trailer with the fenders on it.
Here it is after a test drive in some mud.
We only have a few things left to do on it, build a lid for the top that will be removable and move the tongue box forward and make a basket to hold water cans.
So I found these LEDs and thought they would look good on the side of the trailer. We really didn't have to do much, the holes were already there from the old tail light wiring.
My brother ordered the handles for the back to lock the tailgate closed.
So the handles are installed and he had to figure out the mechanics behind it. My brother made a cardboard mock up of the mechanism at work and his co workers thought he was crazy.
And the actual mechanism installed...
The tailgate came from Amazon, you can see in the earlier pictures that we had to fill in the holes on the bottom and we replaced the top rail with the size we were using on the back.
Here she is painted the color we wanted. What do you think?
My niece is happy because the project is close to being complete and she sleeps above the garage so she has to hear it all the time.
A shot from the back.
Well yes and no as far as the speed of it. It is fast but we are about 6 weeks into it, nights and weekends. The weekends I am able to go and help out on the work. It is a little deceiving with my posts because when I started posting we were well into it and I started posting from the...
Where did you find the trailer? It looks good and solid for a start. Have fun, I'm enjoying my build with my brother. The registration process for NC can be a little hassle if it did not come with a title.
It took a whole day to clean the inside of the tub up and a bunch of sanding discs for the grinder.
After cleaning it up we lined the inside with a home liner kit from Lowes. We were able to do the inside with two coats and the bottom and still have some left over. The liner hides any...
