Congrats dude, it's a nice unit. I used to have a Batwing and it had more coverage than my 270XT, which I loved, but I use the 270XT at a moment's notice w/o a care about the wind (within reason).

My 80 is a dedicated wheeling/camping rig and she gets used hard and put away wet, sort of. She ain't pretty but she'll get me anywhere I wanna go with confidence and comfort. Going on 18 years of ownership, and she turned 300,000+ few months back. She's still young! 17yo daughter is waiting...

This is coming from the left field but if you were to install two 180deg awnings, you can make yourself a 360deg coverage by filling in the space in the rear. A DIYer can purchase the correct width fabric, sew on zippers or velcros, then connect the new fabric to the 180deg awnings. Voila...

It has been close to a decade, I think, the last time I ran this. One of the 80s had a RTT on 2.5"/33"s. I can't recall if we had to do the ballast thing but I'm on 35s/3" with a craptastic amount of weight on the roof. Guess I'll find out!

Unfortunately, I'll be doing that exact trail with my setup and quite possibly poop my pants!!!! Thankfully I built my sliders with rub rails that are great for guys to stand on and act as ballasts.

I have a similar style of tent, Variant by Autohome and it flaps and so will this one, if I were to venture a guess. The pic below shows the slack in the fabric, and the lifting struts are probably maxed out while the side fabric are probably tight. You're right about the weight up though...
