How'd you do on Poughkeepsie? Everything I read about it says its the most technically difficult trail in the area and a lift, biggish tires, and skid plates are a must.
Awesome 4runner by the way. If sleeping in the bed wasn't a requirement I would most certainly have given those a hard look...
I'm surmising your choice to switch from selling Jeep and Ram to Toyota reflects your opinion of those brands as a whole? Or was the swap made for other business purposes?
OME 886 w/ Nitrochargers up front and Icon VS 2.0 rear shocks with a DAKAR leaf pack. You are welcome to come oogle and see what you think. Again, on a Tacoma, but if you want to check it out shoot me a PM. You konw, seeing as how I live right up the street.
Looking forward to seeing where you go with this! It looks like the skid plate is steel...planning on steel instead of aluminum belly pans I take it? I'd also be curious to know what your line of work is/if you have any cool work to display. I'm a photo-video geek.
Granted my only experience is on a Tacoma, but the Icon shocks have significantly outperformed OME for me. As much as I hate spending money twice as well, I'll probably swap out the front OMEs for some Icons when money allows.
Killer pics!
I'd love to know what your impression was on the difference in handling/ability based on the longer wheelbase but don't wanna clog up a photo thread with such conversation.
The lady friend and I got out this past weekend to do a little bit of camping and exploring with some friends. We left Denver ~7pm on Friday night with the ultimate destination being Taylor Park. Along the way we were treated to a beautiful sunset (notice a general theme in this thread?)...
I bought a zip on vinyl mattress protector from Walmart for the time being. It is cheap and thin but it is waterproof and works. I'll probably get something a bit more durable once this one finally bites the dust.
So we've been using the platform in the back of the bed for a few camping trips now and I realized that I never shared the details of its construction.
This is the first iteration as my intentions are to build a full fledged drawer system this upcoming winter. Not wanting to sleep in a tent I...
A little bit of an update since I was monkeying around under the truck the other day and just happened to notice. After lift, at ride height, with the ARB, one of the fins on the inner CV boot would rub the adjacent fin. Over the 8K miles I put on with that setup it wore a groove in the boot...
This is the first time I have seen this thread and I'm excited to see where it goes. Do you have any pictures of the old truck on 37s? I'd love to see the evolution of your rigs.
You sure aren't wasting time getting this thing to where you want it huh? Not that I disagree with that philosophy, might as well enjoy the truck as you want it for as long as possible.
The other thing I managed to accomplish lately was to get an axe. It would have come in handy the last camping trip so I picked up an Estwing 26" camper's axe. Estwing products have never let me down so it was a natural choice to get one of their products.
I'll be mounting it to the roof rack...
Just a little update for today. So I have a serious issue with chrome and shiny stuffs. The chrome grill has always bothered me and I decided to do something about it the other day. I took everything off, cleaned it up real good, then hit it with a coat of Plastidip. IMO it looks much better...
